Love you | Maria La Chica | Sketch

Hello everyone, and welcome once again to UK Scrap Addicts!

As you've already seen from the previous posts this month, I have a super cute sketch to work with!

Here it is:

And here is the page I have created with it:

I love it!

I have used Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Bohemian Dreams" papers as I felt that the colours worked quite well with my photos. I don't always try to match the colours on the photos with the papers, but this time I thought it was a good combination.

Here's a close up:

I don't have much time to scrap lately, so using a sketch is definitely the way forward for me, as it takes a lot of the pain of having to decide on a design away from me.

Sticking to a single collection of papers also helps, as I don't have to spend a long time trying to decide what goes with what, and trying to match embellishments and papers.

Here's another close up:

I hope you have liked this page, and if you have a few minutes spare, go and watch my process video on youtube... it's quite short!

Embrace Today / Sketch / Jackie Ashton

Hi scrappers, Jackie here with this month theme - a sketch by PageMaps.  I find using a sketch a great starting point, especially when my mojo goes for a wonder.  They are a great way to get myself going again, either by following the sketch exactly or by starting with a few of the basic elements on the sketch design and going from there.

Heres my take on the sketch, I’ve followed the sketch as closely as possible.

The paper ranges I’ve used are a few old collections from Studio Calico and Echo Park which were dated 2013, obviously needed to be used, along with some a recent collection from Pink Fresh Studios - Boys Forte.

For the title I’ve used a Acrylic words from Bella Blvd, which I have had in my stash for a while.

And here are a few close ups

Hope you have enjoyed seeing the different way the design team have used this sketch this month, and how versatile sketches can be.

Till next month

New Suit | Lisa-Jane Johnson | Sketch

Hi lovelies!  It's Lisa-Jane here from Pretty My Page with my layout based on the sketch for this month.  I love using sketches to get me started and I really liked this sketch from Page Maps.  Sometimes I just use them as a starting point and end up quite far removed from the original and sometime I might flip them around or upside down depending on the orientation of the photo I want to use.  With this one though, I deliberately chose photos that worked the same as the inspiration as I wanted to see how closely I could stick to the original sketch.

I’ve been trying to work on older photos and to fill in the many gaps in my albums with the intention of setting up some sort of system.  I don’t scrap chronologically but I do file them chronologically and I have 2 albums for each year (plus extras like Christmas and holidays etc)  This means that I have some albums that are bulging and others that only have a couple of layouts in.  I also have a drawer where I keep my photos (allegedly in rough date order) but again there are a lot of gaps.  I need to put the groups of photos next to their associated albums and then cross reference them with the various computerised files to see which ones I still need to print.  This all sounds like a rather monotonous task doesn’t it?!  I’m hoping that I’m going to be inspired by new photos to scrap, ones that I’ve long forgotten about because for some reason they didn’t get printed at the time.  I’m due to have surgery repeated on my Achilles in a couple of months so this sounds like a perfect job for when I’m laid up!

These two pictures that I’ve used here are actually 11 years old and they are rubbish quality because they were some of the first I took with a digital camera.  It was a few months before I realised how much you could affect the resolution of the pictures by altering them in the wrong way so most of my photos from my son’s early months are pretty grainy.  They are also really hard for me to scrap because I suffered so badly with post-natal depression. This means some of the journalling is pretty brief because I don't remember much of his first year.

Do you like using sketches?  Have you had a go at this one?  We'd love to see!

Go on, gather your stash, and make pretty pages.

Love my Boyz | Niki Rowland | Sketch

Hey there, it's Niki here today and this month the Design Team are all following a PageMaps Sketch and what a fabulous sketch it is. The beauty of a sketch is that it can be used in multiple different ways - it can be used in it's original format, rotated, flipped or you could just take some elements from it and use it as a starting point.

I have stayed reasonably close to the original design, in that I have kept to the original orientation. I have adapted it to what I want to scrap though, so instead of two photos, I've used just one and have used a journal card in the place of the other photo. I've left out a layer and the stitching, turned the tag the other way and extended the embellishment areas.

You can still see the sketch within my layout but I've changed it a little to suit my style of scrapping. I've used Crate Paper Main Squeeze for this layout, together with a Paige Evans cut file and some other bits and pieces from my stash.

I've created a process video of this layout which you can view below.

I hope you have enjoyed my layout and video today - see you next month and happy scrapping xx

Wild Child | Sarah (ManxyCatCrafts) | Sketch

Sarah here today with my take on this months sketch by PageMaps below.

I chose a black background for my layout and added white texture paste in place on the base paper in the sketch.

For this layout I used my December Mind the Scrap kit. I had three pictures of my little boy that worked well with the kit so chose them instead of two as the sketch shows.

I really liked the torn note paper in the sketch so decided to use that as a layer. My mermaid markers added a splash of messy colour in keeping with the theme.

Some black faux stitching on the white paper and white on the black background tied it all together.

A few splashes of orange, black and green ink and my layout was done.

Thanks for stopping by :)

January Free Cut File

Hey there Scrap Addicts!

It's Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page here today with your first free cut file of the year!  Woo hoo!  Cut it big as a title page in your yearly album or cut it small to scrap pictures of seeing in the New Year.  Also ideal for Project Life and small format scrapping.

Have you recovered from the festive season yet?  Are you back to normal?  Nope, me neither...

You can find instructions for downloading and using the cut file in Silhouette here.  And don't worry if you don't have an electronic die-cutter, we've got some ideas for using them without one here.

We really love seeing what you've created, whether it has been directly inspired by something you've seen here or not, so please do link us in the comments below and if you're on social media then please don't forget to use the hashtags#ukscrapaddicts

Best wishes for 2018 and as always, happy scrapping!

Dad met Bear / Sheena Rowlands / Sketch

Hi there x Sheena here again x

For this months challenge Jackie set us a sketch to use or be inspired by from Page Maps. I find sketches to be a really useful tool to speed up my scrapbooking or help when my mojo is lacking.

I generally scrap 12x12 layouts so continued for this challenge.

Dad met Bear.

I love this photo taken at Windsor Castle when my Eldest was collecting his Queens Scout award. Bear was chatting to the crowds & I asked him to pose with my Dad who had also received an award. I only had 1 photo but that didn't stop me using this sketch, I just adapted it.

I used Crate Paper - Cool Kid range as I wanted to add some primary colours to this page to co ordinate with their neckerchiefs. I reduced the details of the sketch so it no longer touched the edges of the 12x12 background paper. I added lots of layers mixing different patterns & colours and ripped the edge of one for more interest. I just had to add this Bear from the chipboard sheet as its so cute.

I clustered embellishments in 2 places to draw you into the photo and rather than stitching then added arrows at the top and bottom. I added black splashes and blue ink through a stencil to the background patterned paper.

I still think my page looks like the sketch, kind of! Hope you get the chance to create soon x

That's Not A Necklace | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Sketch

Hello Scrap Addicts

It seems so long since I was last up and I’ve missed you all!

So this months challenge was to use a sketch. We have used one designed by PageMaps and I had so much fun scraping along to it.

I kept to the sketch a little and added in some flourishes of enamel dots to make it my own.

I used a lot of colourful patterned paper for this layout as I knew I was going to use white cardstock as my base. I did a lot of messy layers behind the photo (even though this wasn't in the sketch - I always like to take a sketch and make the layout my own!!)

The title was a struggle as I wanted to use the Thickers from the Shimelle Glitter Girl collection (purchased from Hey Little Magpie). However, I had run out of E's and so I mixed and matched the title using the tiny alpha stickers from the sticker book along with the larger gold glitter Thickers. I am definitely going to do this more as it will certainly help to use up some of those have used alpha sheets!!

And here is the final layout......

I hope this brings you inspiration and why not head on over to our Facebook Page where you can find more inspiration from some of the other wonderful ladies on the team. You'll also find the sketch there so come and play along.

Until next month.....

Claire x

25 | Terri Morris | January Sketch

Well, I can't quite believe it's 2018 and the festive season is over for another year. For January we are all using this Page Maps Sketch. We would love you to join in and tag us on Instagram or Facebook.

I combined this sketch with one of my last days of my December Daily album. I altered the sketch slightly to adapt it to the 6x8 size.

I used two photos of my nieces with Facebook filters from Christmas Day. I had already created the no.25 DIY embellishment before so this layout came together very quickly. I already had all supplies out on the desk and loved using this paper collection. When using a sketch I try hard not to over think my layouts.

I love how striking this big white perspextive from Bramble Fox looks on the page.

I added some vertical and horizontal lines and faux stitching as indicated on the sketch.

I hope you've all had a fantastic Christmas and wish you all the best for the New Year ahead.

Happy Crafting!
