It's Sheena here again and for our challenge this month we are using embossing folders. To be honest my first challenge was actually finding my embossing folders! I'd had a big tidy up in march & put them somewhere safe, isn't that always the way!

Winter Wishes.

For this page I started first with the embossing folders, knowing I wanted to make a wintery layout I dug out a snowflake one and a camera one.

Firstly I ran vellum through which gave a lovely crisp embossed look. Then I rubbed an ink pad on the inside of the embossing folder and ran white cardstock through it. Finally I ran damp tissue through the camera embossing folder too. To see these techniques check out the Youtube video at the end of this post.

Armed with my embossed items i set about making a grid format layout using mainly Simple Stories - Freezin' Season and Crate paper - Snow and Cocoa paper ranges.

I particularly loved how the inked cardstock turned out and just added a few stickers to finish off that  "card". I used Distress Oxide - speckled egg ink.

From the embossed tissue I cut out a single camera to use as an embellishment as part of a cluster. I enjoyed raiding my Christmas stash looking for embellishments to go with the photos and story I wanted to tell.

Before attaching the cards down I added some mixed media in co ordinating colours to the background.

Panda Ears | Sheena Rowlands | Lisa Fonseca style page element.

For our challenge this month we are all being inspired by a well known European scrapbooker, Lisa Fonseca. If you haven't seen this Ladies work I recommend you check out her quirky style on IG or Pinterest as she create lovely bright pages often featuring animal heads.

For my layout I've been inspired by her animal creations. It did take me a while to decide how I wanted to incorporate animals into my page but I'm happy with the outcome.

Panda Ears.

This was a story I had been wanting to scrap so it is the perfect page to add my hand drawn pandas to. I went on Pinterest looking for panda images & found some I liked. I hand drew them onto white cardstock before colouring them in & cutting them out. It took a few goes till I was happy with them. I added 3 to my page.

I chose mainly papers from Vicki Boutin - Wildflower and Honey and Field Note ranges. I wanted a nature type feel with pops of pink taken from my photograph.

I used lots of layers & die cut frames to hold my photos & title. I also made a paper envelope to hold my journalling cards telling my story.

Dippin' Dots | Sheena Rowlands | Mood board

Our challenge this month is to use a wonderful mood board created by our team mate Amy, as inspiration to create our layout. I've not used mood boards much before but found plenty within this one to get my mind whirling and my layout started.

Hello Dippin' Dots.

Using the colour circles on the mood board I gathered lots of patterned papers I thought I might use mainly from Dear Lizzy - She's Magic and Crate Paper - Sunny days. The ice-cream  image had me hunting out photos from 2010 about an ice cream treat we ate in Florida.

I started by tearing the papers and overlapping them till I was happy how they looked. I layered my photos with more patterned papers which I distressed. Then the best bit for me, sorting through embellishments. 

To echo the mood board and my subject matter I added circles of patterned paper, an ice cream, a rainbow and even a butterfly from Maggie Holmes - Sweet Story range. My title is a mix of alphas and acrylic word plus a little hand written journalling.

Lets Go ! | Sheena Rowlands | Combine old & new collections

Hi there UK Scrap Addicts, Sheena here again.

Our June challenge is to use both old and new collections on the same layout. Some of you may find this harder than others as a challenge. I've learnt over the past few years that I'm really drawn to the colours of scrapbook products rather than collections so was really looking forward to having a dig about in my stash to complete this challenge.

Lets Go!

The more I thought about mixing collections I decided it might be easier with a theme so I pulled out my travel ranges and began there.
As my older collections I found Crate Paper - Sunny Days & All Heart and for my new collection - Simple Stories - Going Places.

I found tags and project life cards and arranged them as my base for this page. When I was happy with the coverage I adhered them down & printed my 4 small photos to tell my story.

Next I looked for embellishments for my tags in the ephemera and chipboard pieces. I kept adding till I was happy with the look then added a little journaling to complete the page.

Fabulous | Sheena Rowlands | Inspired by another craft

For our challenge this month we are to create a layout inspired by another hobby. Over the years I've had a few different hobbies and still quilt, sew and crochet alongside my scrapbooking & Project Life.

For this page I decided to use Quilting as my inspiration.

Fabulous.

I decided to use a quilting type pattern as my layout background. I die cut lots of 3in circles from various Pink Paislee Paige Evans paper ranges then cut them into quarters.

I arranged them on the base & when I was happy stuck them down with a little adhesive before machine sewing them in place. This did take some time but I like the finished effect. On line you can find lots of quilting patterns that could be easily translated to paper crafting.

I didn't want to cover too much of the background up so I added my photo to one corner with various patterned paper layers and a doily beneath. 

I added my title and various colour co-ordinating embellishments either side of my photo using foam pads to add depth.

Santa Baby | Sheena Rowlands | Vertical Design

Our challenge for you this month is to produce a vertical design on your layout. I knew straight away that I would like this challenge and this layout came together really quickly for me.

Santa Baby.

I added a strip of paper down the right hand side of my layout then went in search of my Christmas embellishments.

I matted my photo on some off cuts of patterned paper then began to tuck die cuts and chipboard pieces in and around the photo building up a vertical line.

The embellishments are from various Christmas ranges spanning many years, I just picked the ones out that were suitable colours and went with this cute photo of my nephew. The snowman head is a mini rubber that found its way into my supplies.

When i was happy I adhered it all down using foam pads under some layers to add depth then added my title and a few stars to finish.

R & R | Sheena Rowlands | More than One collection.

For our challenge this month we are using more than 1 collection on our layouts. In my craft space I keep some types of supplies together my theme rather than collection - Travel, Love / Valentine & Halloween. I decided using one of these would be a good way to mix collections.

R & R.

I started my layout by choosing an old patterned paper by Making Memories from 2008 !! and added Distress Oxide to this using the packaging technique.

I started with 3 tags as my base, one of which I created as odd numbers always look best. I printed the photo of my Daughter recently on holiday 4x3 inches and used that as a colour guide to choosing my embellishments.

I rooted through my travel storage box and pulled out more ancient Making Memories supplies plus more recent collections from Pinkfresh Studio - Out and About, Crate Paper - Here + There, Crate Paper - Oasis and Crate Paper - Wild heart.

I layered up stickers, chipboard, stamps, tags, ribbon, acetate and puffy stickers onto each tag until I was happy with them and stuck them down.
