Fun and Games | Maria La Chica | Mood Board

Hello scrap addicts!

It's Maria here with you today, with a bright and fun layout inspired by this month's moodboard:

As you can see, there's tons to be inspired about! However, for me what jumped out the most was the frames in the centre of the image.

So here is my layout!

I have used Shimelle's latest collection, which is super colourful and bright, exactly what I needed!

And I've got a process video in case you want to see how I created this layout and want to hear me rumble! :)

Thanks for joining me today, and see you next month!

Celebrate / Jackie Ashton / Moodboard

Happy 1st birthday to us here at UK Scrap Addicts, as we move forward with the new re-branding of the group and the introduction of a new DT team what better way than to have a birthday celebration as a layout.

This months theme is lovely provided by Terri-Ann who came up with this fantastic moodboard

Here is the moodboard

I went with the colours, cake and stars, and really love how my layout came out.  I also used this months cut file.

As my birthday is around Christmas, I used Crate Paper - Snow & Cocoa collection which was a great colour match to the moodboard, especially some of the 'b-sides' of the collection.

Hope you like what I’ve done, why not give both the moodboard and the cut file a go, and share with us on our facebook page.

Don't forget there is still time to apply for a position on our DT team, we would love to have you join us for 6 month, all the details can be found here.

Till next time.

Inspire Dream Create | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Moodboard

Hello friends....

So I normally struggle using mood boards and so this was always going to be a task for me. But I loved the inspiration in this mood board that was created by fellow UKSA team member Terri. The colours and themes really had my heart.

UKSA has gone through new branding and I couldn't wait to scrap about this. I love the new logo and our new watermarks (leave us a comment and let us know whether you like them too!!).

I used this months free cut file that was designed by Lisa from Pretty My Page and I loved it!!

I decided I would go stitching crazy on this layout also. I stitched around the cut file and then even made some balloons and stitched around these also. I had cramp in my hand for about a week after all of this!!

I finished the layout with some word Thickers to create my title "Inspire Dream Create" and embellished with some ephemera and stickers from the Girl Squad collection which seemed fitting for what I was scrapping about.

I have been loving the layouts that have been created from the other creative team ladies so be sure to check back here for more inspiration.

Time for Tea | Niki Rowland | Moodboard

Hey there UK Scrap Addicts! Niki here with my take on the theme for this month which is this gorgeous moodboard.

Whenever I use a moodboard for inspiration I usually make a list of things I see and this is my list for this one:
cake
birthday
flowers
balloons
confetti
jars
happy/girls/pretty
frames
disco/multicoloured background/bokeh effect
stars
polka dots
Colours: pink, dark pink, turquoise, gold, black, purple and orange

This is why I love moodboards so much - that list is huge!

I decided to scrap photos from a recent afternoon tea and decided to go with a cupcake for my main focus. I absolutely love the free cut file that UKSA are giving away this month but it just didn't go quite right with my photos as it's more of a birthday cake and this wasn't anyone's birthday. So I downloaded a Cupcake cut file from the Silhouette Design Store instead.

I then spent quite a bit of time backfilling all the different parts of the cupcake.

I have used the Shimelle Glitter Girl collection for this layout. I'm doing some stash busting at the moment and this is one of the collections that needs to get used up and the colours were perfect.

Once the cupcake was filled, I then added clusters of floral stickers to either side of my cupcake and used these as places to put my photos. I built them up and added two titles using small alpha stickers and a large glittery title too - the word 'Happy' to make use of the quote in the moodboard.

I finished off my scattering sequins from the top of the page (inspired by the confetti in the moodboard) and added my journaling around the edge of the cake.

I had great fun making this layout and love the end result. Such a fab moodboard made it very easy. I've made a video of my process for you to view below:

Thank you so much for joining me today, happy scrapping!

Cake! | Lisa-Jane Johnson | Mood Board

Hi there Scrap Addicts!  It's Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page here today with my layout based on the gorgeous mood board from Terri-Ann.

I loved everything about this moodboard and tried to use as much of it as I could.  Of course I had to go with a birthday theme and I really wanted to include the free cut file for the month too so it was a perfect opportunity to scrap some photos of my surprise 40th party and my amazing scrapbook shaped cake!

I like using a frame for my layouts so I used a bluey colour to match the image in the mood board.  I was also able to incporate lots of the colours in the image using mostly Simple Stories Love & Adore with a bit of Dear Lizzy thrown in.

Of course the cake and candles appeared in the form of the cut file and in the photo and then the moodboard reminded me that I had some gold stars in my stash so I finally bust those open to add some sparkle.

Finally I added some resin flowers and then twisted up some baker's twine inspired by the balloon strings.

Of course you can choose to be inspired by just one photo from the moodboard, or just the feel you get when you look at it, you don't have to try and cram them all in like I did!  I really hope the images inspire you as much as they did me and don't forget we'd love to see them so please do tag us social media and / or post on our Facebook page.

And don't forget we have that Design Team call open too!

Best wishes and happy creating!

Lisa-Jane

Hello 50 / Sheena Rowlands / Mood board

Hi there x Sheena here again x

This month we are using a lovely Mood board designed by Terri as our inspiration.

There are so many elements on the mood board that inspired me including the colours, balloons, frames & birthday cake.

Hello 50

I decided to use a photo taken on my 50th which included a balloon. I wanted to make the frames my focus & remembered I had some ready made ones in my Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Wild at Heart stash.

I laid out the frames, some layered over each other & used scraps from the same paper range to fill a few of them before adhering them all down.
I continued with the Wild at Heart stash and added chipboard, die cuts and flair on, in  and around the frames till I was happy with how it looked. Finishing with some typed words and numbers.

Hope you get a chance to create using this lovely mood board yourself.
Till next time x

31 | Terri Morris | Moodboard

Happy Snowy Sunday! I hope you are all staying warm with this wintery weather we are having here in the UK. It's starting to thaw now in the North so its not really impacting us anymore. I'm here with the first of our Moodboard inspired layouts. I created the Moodboard below for us all to take inspiration from this month.

I went with a bit of a birthday theme as it is not only UK Scrap Addicts 1 year birthday it is also my birthday next week. I picked my favourite colours and some of my favourite things. I can't wait to see all the other girls layouts.

I used the fantastic free birthday cake cut file that was created by Pretty My Page for UK Scrap Addicts. I backed it with pink polka dot paper and then added a cluster of embellishments with the small portrait photo. I've used mostly the Paige Evans 'Turn the Page' collection.

I added a watercolour shadow under the cut file to highlight the white on white cardstock.

I added gold perspextive stars from Bramble Fox sprinkled across the page. I struggled to get these to stick but found using glossy accents the best adhesive.

I plan to add journalling about how I feel about turning 31 next week. I really hated the thought of turning 30 last year but in the end it wasn't actually so bad, this year I'm not so bothered.

Happy Crafting!

Free Cut File

Did someone say cake?  It's right here!!  Enjoy!

We are recruiting!

*** Design Team Call ***

UK Scrap Addicts are looking for 6-8 people to join our existing team of designers promoting UK Scrapbooking. Applications are welcome from any UK based crafter to join our relaxed and fun team, initially for a 6 months period. The team currently each create one project per month with associated short descriptions and photos (although the odd extra may be required for such events as NSD and Christmas etc), and our monthly themes are chosen at least 3 months in advance. We are keen to cover all scrapping bases such as Traveller’s Notebooks, Mini Books, Off The Page projects, Pocket Pages, non-standard 12x12 (A4, 8x8, 6x12 etc) as well as standard 12x12 pages, so it would be really helpful if you could tell us which particular formats you love to scrap in.
Don’t worry if you’ve never been on a Design Team before, we’d love to find some new UK talent! However, it is important that you can take effective photos of your beautiful work. A good social media presence is required as well as some previous blog experience (even if it’s not current), so that you are comfortable uploading photos and descriptions across our various platforms. We are particularly keen to hear from scrappers that can create video content for our youtube channel as part of their monthly project.

To apply – e-mail us on ukscrapaddicts@gmail.com with the subject heading UKSA DT Call 2018, enclosing 2 projects that you feel best showcase your style and the format you like to scrap in. Please include all social media links that you use for sharing your craft as well as a short bio about yourself and why you think you’d be a good fit for our team.
The 6 month term will start from May 2018 so the closing date is 31st March 2018
We are really looking forward to seeing lots of talented applications and we’re excited about growing scrapbooking in the UK!

We are one!

We are celebrating our 1st birthday here at UK Scrap Addicts! (An excuse for cake right?!)  And what better present to give ourselves than a new outfit?  We hope you love our new branding as much as we do and we'd love you to get in touch and tell us what you think.
Over the  last year we've had lots of challenges, inspiration and free cut files for you and we very much hope to continue that in the forthcoming year.  We really want to grow the scrapbooking industry in the UK whether that's manufacturers, designers or suppliers, so if you have any ideas of how we can help to do this please get in touch.  We're also looking at lots of different ways we can inspire our lovely scrappy followers so again if you have any ideas please do get in touch.  Our team started off quite large and then had a period of re-orgnisation around October and now we are in a position to broaden our team again, so with that in mind, check out the next blog post for more details!

In the meantime, happy birthday to us and happy scrapping to you!
