Night Out | Kirei Baldwin | 'Grab 5'

Hi Scrap Addicts!

Kirei here with the last layout of the month featuring this month's theme which was to 'Grab 5'.

I decided to pull out some older items from my stash.... 12x12 acetate, Project Life cards, Thickers, doilies, and word stickers.

Firstly the acetate, I don't know about you but I have quite a few sheets in my stash that I have bought as I really like them but then don't end up using it as never quite sure what to do with it! So I decided this was the time to get one out which I then used as the background for my layout. You can see the layout below with a piece of cream card behind it just so you can see the acetate a little clearer.

I layered up a variety of the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Project Life cards to go behind the photo. I distressed the edges for some dimension. I also fussy cut a variety of images from the Project Life cards and used them as embellishments on my layout.

I added a gold doily behind my photo and also used a small piece in the top left cluster on the layout.

I used a few small word stickers from a sheet by Maggie Holmes' from one of her Crate Paper collections.

I added a title using some small gold Thickers.

The rest of the Team have been creating with this theme all month so there is lots of lovely inspiration for you.... so why don't you join in with this month's 'Grab 5' theme and see what you can use up from your stash! Don't forget to share your layouts over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook page.....we love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking, happy scrapping!

No Peeking! / Jackie Ashton / Grab 5

Hi Jackie here, my turn with this months theme - Grab 5.

My five items are

Patterned papers
Wood Veneer
Perspextives
Ink
Die-Cuts and Enamel dots

I started the layout by adding some ink details to my cardstock.

I selected some patterned papers from Echo Park - Celebrating Christmas and distressed the edges before adding to the top and the bottom edges of the cardstock.

I mounted my photographs onto some patterned papers, which I distressed the edges and added over the inked details.

For my title I used a Bramble Fox Christmas one - ‘No Peeking’, which was perfect for my photographs.

Finishing the layout with some wood veneer and enamel dots.

I enjoyed putting this layout together and love the challenge.

Thats me for this year, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

See you next year.

A Winter's Day | Lou Thompson | Grab 5

For this month's challenge I just had to go wintery and use the Prima Santa Baby collection I love.

I started by splattering some oxide inks on some Bazzill marshmallow heavy cardstock in colours that coordinated with the Prima range.

I started by layering some of the papers around my photo and added foam dots for dimension.

I then added glitter stickers and washi, foam stickers and ephemera from Santa Baby, some American Crafts dot stickers and Kaisercraft die cuts.

I really love this layout its super pretty and perfect for winter.

Here are some close ups. Hope you like it.

Let It Snow | Karen Moss| Take 5

Hello, hello - Karen here with my version of this months prompt which is 'Take 5'.  I have to admit I was a little confused as to exactly what was required for this one but decided to take the approach of using 5 items and a piece of white card - not sure if that constituted 6 things :0)

I used some 6 x 6 papers with coordinating washi tape, pearls and tags (all from £land) and some mini doilies from Stampin Up.

For my title I cut the title from the front of the paper pack.

You can watch my process video for this page here.

Hope you pop back here soon or check out out Facebook Page to see what the other DT members have made.

Effie Elf | Create with Cayleigh | 'Grab 5'

Hi UK Scrappers!

Anyone else panicking that it's practically Christmas?! I can't believe how fast it has got here...

This months theme is grab 5. I actually thought I would find this really hard, but it ended up being super easy to pick 5 things! I went with patterned Christmas paper, co-coordinating card-stock & ribbon, plus some embellishments and a white gel pen.

I wanted to scrap a couple of photos of my elf on the shelf and I also wanted a hidden journalling section so I could write about all her antics! Unfortunately I had an issue with my camera and so the original layout I created was corrupt & I had to film again with no pictures-but that does mean you can see the layout in 2 colourways!

To make the hidden journal element, you need to a piece of card 4" x 8". Score at 2", 4" & 6". Burnish all the score lines and then tie ribbon around to keep it closed. Adhere using some strong tape!

Here is a process video if you want to watch how it was created :)

Happy Christmas <3

Love Cayleigh xx

Lisa-Jane Johnson | Grab 5 | Dream Big, Sleepy Head

Hi there scrappy friends, it's Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page here today with my take on the Grab 5 challenge.  I grabbed a handful of things that were near to me after I'd created some layouts with the Simple Stories Dream big collection so I have a sticker sheet and some patterned papers as two of my items.  I also added in enamel dots and Distress Oxides plus I already had the very old pink letter stickers on my desk too.

I'd been really inspired by some of the lovely rainbow layouts that I've been busy pinning from Pinterest including some by our lovely team here at UK Scrap Addicts, so I decided to try and create my own.  However I made a total blunder and for some reason I coloured the background in the order of the rainbow in the song instead of ROYGBIV.  The result is pretty awful.  The colours are all clashy and didn't want to blend because they were so contrasting, even after a spritz with water.

BUT... I didn't want to waste the piece that I had created.  So, I pinched an idea from Terri Morris on the Pretty My Page blog where she'd used this pre-cut cut file designed by Paige Taylor-Evans.  It pushes the colours into the background a bit to make them less intense and just give a more subtle idea of the rainbow.

With a colourful and textured background like this, not much else is needed.  I layered my photo onto a couple of pieces of patterned paper and then added a few stickers from the same collection.

I wanted to embrace all the sleepy and dreamy bits so I combined the letter stickers with a phrase sticker for my title.  Of course I had to add my normal enamel dots too.

As always we'd love to see your Grab 5 challenge entries too!

Love : Elaine King: Grab Five

Good morning all

Today I have pleasure in bringing you a layout made using five of my favourite crafty items in line with the December prompt to 'Grab 5" items from your stash and create a layout.

Now, I confess, sometimes my Mojo goes walkabout..and for just some occasions, I have a jar with  slips of paper in it with lots of suggestions. This prompt was therefore right up my street!

First I took my five slips of paper. My selection was as follows:

1) Patterned Paper
2) Pearls
3) Flowers
4) Punches
5) Die Cuts

Currently I am making an album for a friend who recently got married and so my first thought was to make a layout for this album. I am mostly going to be using Kaisercafts Misty Mountain range which I got from Charmed Cards and Crafts so this was my first selection. I knew I would be making clusters of floral embellishments so the choice of both flowers and pearls was a lucky one! Lol

I was then wondering how I would include both punches and die cuts?.. so I then chose a sketch that included some bunting so I knew that I could use my punch that I got from a Stampin' Up demonstrator. All I had to do then was choose which die cut to include and I thought this 'Love' one was just perfect as a title for my friend looking at her Mum.

I hope that you like the idea of choosing five items to kickstart your creativity too. Do pop in and let us know what you have chosen to use!

December Free Cut File

Good morning crafty ones!

It's time for another free cut file!  You might have noticed things getting a little bit Christmassy all around the place with many people doing December Daily or Journal Your Christmas or whatever method you use to document your season.  So the cut file for December is one you can use as an embellishment or a filler on a small or large format or you can go really large and make it a main feature on a standard 12x12 layout.  We'd really really love to see what you create with our cut files!

We are now able to supply both the Silhouette file and the SVG file so that all makes of digital die-cutters should easily be able to use our files.  You can of course use the file from this image using the instructions here.  Please do let us know if you have any issues using the files.

The SVG is here.

The Silhouette file is here.

We'd love to see them in action so please do share your creations with us in our Facebook Group and tag us on any social media so that lots more people can be inspired.

As always, these cut files are for your own personal use only.  Selling the files either digitally or in die cut form is a breach of copyright and makes us sad.

Bye for now

WKND VIBES | Amy Kattenbelt | Grab 5

Can you believe its December already! This month the Creative team at UK Scrap Addicts are working with a Grab 5 challenge for our projects. Join me over on You Tube to watch how my scrapbook layout came together using the 5 products I picked to use, namely
1. Watercolour paints
2. A stamp set
3. Gold sequins
4. A 6x6 paper pad
5. Chipboard stickers

Its quite a summerly layout, using bright fresh colours, just the thing to liven up these long dark nights. I used a black & white square photo on my layout.

The layout involves a mixed media background with some doodling and stamping in black.

Thanks for stopping by, and like i said do check out our You Tube channel for more detailed information about how i created this layout. Merry Christmas, and I will be back with another layout in the New Year.

Smile | Sheena Rowlands | Grab 5

Hi there Scrap Addicts x Sheena here again.

This month we have all been set a "Grab 5" challenge. To be honest I wasn't totally sure what this was but after watching a few youtube videos I started gathering my supplies together.

For my Grab 5 I chose - patterned papers, Vicki Boutin art crayons, embroidery threads, some Bramble Fox perspectives and finally  a selection of mini embellishments.

I chose the patterned papers as I tend to hoard pretty papers rather than use them, the crayons as I'm keen to find ways to use them in my scrapping since meeting Vicki Boutin earlier this year, the threads as I used to be a keen cross stitcher many years ago, the perspectives as I like trying new products and the sequins and drops as my collection of mini embellishments never seems to go down regardless of how many I use.

Smile.

I started off by mixing some of the art crayons with water and painting circles on my cardstock by hand and leaving them to dry.

Over these circles I hand sewed in a petal stitch in  co ordinating colours. This took me much longer than I anticipated but I was pleased with the finished result.

I matted my photo on a selection of the Paige Evans patterned papers and cut flowers from the leftovers to arrange around the circles to soften the look. I finished with adding sequins in the flower centres and a perspective as my title plus a couple of butterflies.

We would love for you to try this Grab 5 challenge and share your what you create over on our FB page.

Till next time x
