Take a Break | Kirei Baldwin | Tic Tac Toe

Hi Scrap Addicts!

Kirei here with my take on this month's theme which was to pick a line of 3 items from a Tic Tac Toe board to use on a layout...

I chose the middle line....arrows, circles and washi tape!

This was a great opportunity to use some washi tape as I am sure many of you have just as many rolls as I have waiting to be used up, they certainly last forever! My inspiration came from a recent layout I made for GoGo Getaway where I used up lots of manufacturing strips that I punched into shapes and a fab layout by the lovely Jo Boland where she used washi tape strips as a background.

Firstly I covered a piece of 12" x 12" white cardstock with different coloured strips of washi tape in a rainbow effect.

Then I punched out various sizes circles which I stuck down onto a white background. I added a 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" square photo (printed one up with borders on a Canon Selphy) with foam dots to give dimension. I added a title using some chipboard Thickers..... can you tell I used a 'c' in place of each 'e' as I had run out of them! I just added in the white line using a Sharpie Poster Paint pen.

Then I went through my stash and added lots of little embellishments (including arrows) in the same rainbow colours as the washi tape.

I love the finished effect and as I had more of the washi tape background left I made a second layout....

For this layout I cut the remaining washi tape background into strips that I stuck down onto a 12" x 12" piece of white cardstock. I punched a few more circles and added them to the white space I had left, attached a 5" x 3 1/2" photo (printed one up with borders on a Canon Selphy) with foam pads.

And again I went through my stash and added lots of circular embellishments (enamel dots, flair badges, sequins, brads) and some white glittery arrows.

I finished off with a title and journaling.

So why don't you join in with the Tic Tac Toe and share your layouts over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook page and join in with the chat.... we love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking, happy scrapping!

You Colour My World | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Tic Tac Toe

Hiya friends,

I can't believe we are nearly at the end of August already.....this means its nearly time for a new theme!

We still have a couple more layouts to share with you for this months theme of Tic Tac Toe. And I hope you like bright colourful rainbow layouts?

So I chose to use Circles, Rainbow and Multiple Alphas.

I started with punching different sized circles from blue, red, pink, yellow and blue patterned papers. I used a 3 inch, 2 inch and 1 inch circle and adhered these onto a piece of white cardstock.

I already loved how this layout started out.

Then I set to work on the title and embellishing. I chose to use 3 different alphas and wanted to use all glittered ones but change the font of each word. I love this bright title and different directions the words run make it more interesting too.

The photo, which can be seen just at the bottom of this photo, was layered with co-ordinating patterned papers that match the circles.

Each circle was then drawn around with a 0.8 black fineliner to help make them pop and give them more of a messy look.

I also added in some accent words from Pink Fresh Studio and used the co-ordinating hearts and stars to create a colour on colour embellishing.

It was then all finished off with a couple of tiny word stickers and some splashes of black ink!

Be sure to head on over to Youtube to watch the process video too.
See you next month!!

But First Coffee / Jackie Ashton / Tic Tat Toe

Hi Crafters, Jackie here with my take on this month Tic Tac Toe theme.

I went for the bottom row - Mixed Alphabets, Hidden Journalling & Pastel Colours.

But First Coffee ...

I started by distressing my white cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress inks in Cracked Pistachio using the packaging technique.

Over this I added stamped several different sizes circles over the top and added some wonky machine stitches, near a few of the circles.

The collection I used for this layout was Pink Fresh Studio - Simple & Sweet collection - its a lovely fresh collection with lots of pastel colours.

For my hidden journalling I die cut a tag from some of the patterned paper and added my journalling to the back, and tucked it behind the photographs.

The arrow paperclip helps to hold the tag in place as well as being decorative.

For my title I used a Bramble Fox perspextive and the cute coffee cups,

and added mini alphabets from Maggie Holmes - Gather Collection.

The puffy gold hearts are from Pink Fresh Studio - The Mix No. 1.

By using this months theme, it provides you with a great way to get started on your layout and perhaps mix things up the you wouldn't normally put together.

I hope you can join us on our Facebook group and show us how you have used this months theme on your layouts.

Happy Scrapping, till next time

Happy Birthday | Karen Moss | Tic Tac Toe

Hello, hello Karen here, a little later than planned but that's another tale for another day!

This month our challenge was to make a project from the TicTacToe board below.

The idea is to choose a line of three either horizontal, vertical or diagonal.  I chose the horizontal middle line - arrow, circles and washi tape.

For my arrow element I used a font called Dreamland Arrows which is a Silhouette font.  I wrote my journaling, using my Silhouette machine, around the edge of the page.

I punched circles of patterned paper to add to my tags and the doilies are circles too.

I added three strips of washi tape to each of my tags.

I have a YouTube process video here if you would like to see how I made this layout.

I hope you pop back soon to see what the other talented UK Scrap Addict ladies have made and hope you will join in with the challenge over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook Page.

Tiny Album / Create With Cayleigh / Tic Tat Toe

Hi Guys! Hope you are well and bursting with craftyness. This month we have the Tic Tac Toe challenge and I have to admit I found it difficult to come up with something right. I must have changed my mind about 6 times about what I was going to make. Finally, inspiration hit and I decided a star album with binding on the front and back covers to make it a little bit more special.

So without further ado, here's the video!

Measurements
-Cover bases (Cardboard or some sturdy base)
-2 3/4" x 2 3/4" X2
-4" x 4" X5

So what do you think? I would love to see your version, whatever size. If you don't want to have sturdy covers, then you can make a star album without them-just decorate card fronts instead.

Love Cayleigh xxx

Up & Down | Lisa-Jane Johnson | Tic-Tac-Toe

Hello there lovely crafters!  It's Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page here today with my layout for the "Tic-Tac-Toe" challenge.  I went with the left hand vertical strip of arrows, home made embellishments and mixed up alphas.  I used to make a lot of my own embellishments and this was a good reminder to do just that.

I started my layout with the intention of making some pinwheels using a cut file from the Pretty My Page shop.  I'm getting down to the dregs of this Simple Stories collection that I've been using for my Lanzarote album so I thought I could use some of the pieces that I didn't like so much in an effort to disguise them.  I cut them into squares and stuck them on my cutting mat and then matched up the design on the screen to cut the pinwheel shapes.

When I made them into the pinwheels by folding the points into the centre, I realised that they didn't quite hide the wrong sides enough for my liking so I turned some over to the back and left others in their flat original design.

Once I'd placed my three square photos in their correct order for the story, I went with a diagonal design for the placement of the pinwheels.  I added some buttons to the centres of the pinwheels, which felt very retro, but then I couldn't stop and added a few more to add to the sense of movement and water splashes from the seal hitting the water.

The collection I'm using came with 3 different alpha stickers so that bit was easily done although they were from the days when Simple Stories didn't do brilliant cutting so I actually had to fight to get them off the sheet!

Lastly I added some very fragile cork arrows, again to show the movement of the seal climbing up the slope and then diving into the pool.  It may not be the most "on-trend" of layouts but my Lanzarote album is lovely and colourful and this happy layout will fit right in.  I'm definitely going to have another go at making some of my own embellishments again.  It's so easy to get caught up in new things and forget some of the old techniques we've learned.

What embellishments do you like to make?  Why not hop over to our Facebook group and show us?

Bye for now

They do! | RamblingsofGeo | Tic-Tac-Toe

Hello,

Georgia here (Aka RamblingsofGeo) with my take on the Tic Tac Toe challenge for August.

I went for the central line of 'Arrows, Circles, and Washi' and decided to document my friends wedding in my SMASH book.

I covered 4 pages in total, i used stickers from the Amy Tangerine books for my Arrows which you can see on this page.

A pocket page on the right houses the invitation, and ceremony booklet . The pocket is a SMASH branded pocket bought from HobbyCraft awhile go. I stuck a photo over the pocket to decorate it and help it blend in to the layouts. On the left page i used a part of the cake box as my background, and the photo booth photo to document the evening!

I used their save the date as a flap to put part of their ceremony booklet in with  photo of them from their engagement shoot. You can see the stars and strips print which was paper from the burgers in the evening, i took a sheet and cut large circles out to use as my background.

You can see here the double page spread, the left is the Circles page, the right has my Arrows and a strip of pink washi tape is along the side of the photo as i felt it complemented the cupcake casing and flower petals.

Check out the video on our UK Scrap Addicts youtube channel to see my construct the pages, and see how quickly they come together!

Free Cut File - August

Good morning crafty ones!

It's time for another free cut file and this month we've tried to incorporate the circles from the tic-tac-toe challenge.  Ths design can be used super large for a full page impact or used small in multiples as an embellishment.

In order to make things easier, for you all, we are in the process of creating better ways to access the images to use in your digital die-cutters.  This month we are trialing the ability to download the .sil files for those who use Silhouette software and next month we hope to be able to offer the SVG in download too.  In the meantime you can of course use the file from this image using the instructions here.  The .sil file can be found
here so please do let us know that it works ok!

We'd love to see them in action so please do share your creations with us in our Facebook Group and tag us on any social media so that lots more people can be inspired.

As always, these cut files are for your own personal use only.  Selling the files either digitally or in die cut form is a breach of copyright and makes us sad.

Bye for now

Today | Elaine King | Tic Tac Toe

Good morning all

Today I am delighted to bring you a layout featuring our monthly Tic Tac Toe challenge card here

To start with I cut the black circle background paper that I first obtained as a free cut file from the UK Scrappers forum. They hold a wealth of free files for your own use so why not pop in for a look to see what's available?

I then chose my photo and selected a collection of papers that included black in. I came across this Simple Stories, Bliss collection,  that I bought from Craft4Eternity as a monthly page kit.

I cut a selection of three strips from the Enjoy the Ride sheet and Remember to Shine page too. I then punched several 1 & 1/4" circles and placed these in a circle around the edge of the placement of the photo. I then mounted this on co-ordinating card-stock and mounted this on foam pads on top of the circle of circles to give dimension. I have drew some 'stitches' on all the papers too.

To embellish I used several flowers from my stash and a journalling card along with some stickers from the Bliss sticker sheet and a chipboard butterfly and bird from the same collection.

The Today title was made using a sticker and then mounted on a piece of yellow paper scrap which I then fussy cut around.

The little flair badge was for a collection that I bought from Lottie Loves Paper. I added some strips of washing tape in co-ordinating colours and the pink arrows were cut using my Silhouette Cameo.

I hope you like what you see.. don't forget to pop over to the shops mentioned above. ..they hold such lovely pretty things to stroke!!! Lol
