New Door | Lisa-Jane Johnson | Letter Stickers

Hi there, it's Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page with you today, just about sneaking in before October is over!  We're beginning to think we've been hexed here at UKSA HQ as so many of us have had or are having, serious technical issues and I fear some bad words may have been uttered by some of us...

Anyway, letter stickers...  I've seen some great things done with cut files being filled in with odd letter stickers so I took inspiration from those.  This technique works really well for layouts about learning, school, writing etc and old number stickers can be used too.

I started with some pictures of my children  in their school uniforms and also with that paper that you can just see peaking out at the top of the photo.   It seems compulsory to take "Back to School" photos outside the back door and as we had recently moved house, this was the first one we'd done in this location - hence the title "New Door".

I found some letter stickers that worked with their uniform and I chose a set that was on it's last legs in terms of what words I could make from them!  I worked out where I wanted my photos to go and started randomly placing the letter stickers in the space underneath.  There were two colours in this particular set and there was enough of the wood effect letters to make the title so I kept those to one side and started adding in the rest among the blue ones.  It gives a better effect here if you run some of the letters off the edges so that it looks more natural and helps to make the background look more like patterned paper with letters on.

The background paper I had used was one from my "oops" bag which is my stash of papers that I don't like / have gone off  / have got ruined in some way.  I use these whole single sheets to make sure my finished layout stays at a square 12x12 when I'm adding pieces together to create my base layer.  It just so happened here that this sheet went really well with my chosen teal and mustard coloured paper and fitted the theme of the school layout so even though I didn't particularly like it, it worked really well for the bottom section and I didn't mind wasting the rest under the remaining areas of the layout.  Those who know me are laughing because I really really don't have a shortage of paper so I don't really need to keep and use bits that I don't love in order to stretch the many many sheets that I adore!

I wanted to lighten up the layout slightly so I added in some off white graph design paper which was on the back of the quatrefoil paper.  In keeping with the theme I used a notebook punch to add a bit of interest and texture at the bottom of the photos.    Then I added some embellishments including wood veneers and enamel dots from the Pretty My Page shop, popped a note of journaling next to the title and called it done.

Don't forget to tag us with any of your creations - we really want to celebrate each and every UK scrapbooker and give you all a big cheer!  Next stop is November!!  Yikes!

Now go forth and make pretty pages!

A Day at The Park / Jackie Ashton

Hello fellow scrappers, hope you are well.   This month we are concentrating on alphabets either stickers, or thickers, so with that in mind I did this layout, with a mixture of thickers from my stash.

Over the summer I’m been to the local safari park, and took loads and loads of photographs, and wanted to make a layout that shows a few of the many animals that we encountered.

It does’t look like I’ve added 12 photographs, does it ? but I have and the layouts is a simple details with the large title of mixed thickers to the bottom of the page.

Why not get your thickers, out and have a mix up and show us what you have done, we would love to see it.

Till next time

Why fit in...? | Alpha Stickers | Maria La Chica

Hello scrap addicts!

Thanks for joining me today  for another layout using alpha stickers and Thickers! I have got a video on youtube explaining the whole process, so please have a look at that as well!

As you can see, I have used turquoise/teal and black thickers. These are my favourite colours and I have plenty of different ones to play with!

I have added some mixed media in the form of watercolour splatters and I love the effect!

I didn't want to distract from the big title and the thickers and that's why I decided not to have any pattern paper. It's funny how I hoard pretty paper and then I choose not to use it! Ha!

I hope you will take part in this challenge and create layouts where your alpha stickers and thickers feature heavily! Don't forget that the amazing Crafty Ribbons are offering a generous £25 voucher to the winner! Pop over our facebook page to learn more!

Now go and watch my video :D

Our Place in the Sunshine | Niki Rowland

Hey there! Niki here with you today with my take on using Alphabet Stickers. I have a ton of these in my stash, mostly part-used but some not used at all. They are away in a bottom drawer, with just a select few in my tote bag and the rest have been untouched for quite some time. I mostly create using cut files and often I don't turn to alphabet stickers for a title as I have already got one sorted using my cutting machine.

But what a waste to have all those alphabet stickers away in a drawer unused! So I'm delighted this theme was set as it gave me the opportunity to use up some of those Thickers.

For this layout I chose to use the Crate Paper Oasis collection as my photo was of my family away on holiday. I built the layout mostly using ephemera as well as stickers and some papers from the same collection. I created a cluster at the bottom too and left a large space for a long title.

I chose to use some white Thickers. I don't use white Thickers that much becuase I mostly create on white backgrounds so there isn't enough contract between the white background and the white letters. I added white Thickers to my layout and then applied Glossy Accents all over the top of each letter sticker.

And then I sprinkled gold glitter all over them! This resulted in a super sparkley golden title - my favourite kind of title lol.

There is a process video available to watch for this layout which can be viewed below.

Thank you so much for joining me today and watching my video. What wil you do with all your alphabet stickers?

Happy scrapping xx

Hop Tu Naa | Alpha Stickers | Sarah (ManxyCatCrafts)

Hi Sarah here with my layout for this month's challenge of using Alphas.

I started my layout with a title and theme already in mind and began by creating a background using Mermaid Markers and Paint Over Pens both by Jane Davenport, I got mine here https://www.mrsbrimbles.co.uk

I used a cute ghost and speech bubble from my Mind the Scrap October kit to add my journalling which was the lyrics to a song.

I added tiny word stickers by Mrs Brimbles and more ghosts around my photo cluster.

I balanced out the design with another cluster at the bottom of the page with more embellishments.

The web and Alpha title help to draw your eye down the page to the photo.
You can check out the video for more details here.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to enter this months challenge sponsored by Crafty Ribbons.

Mud will wash off.../ Alpha Stickers / Sheena Rowlands

Hi there x Sheena here again x

Here is my layout for the Alpha Stickers theme. Since I purchased a cutting machine I tend to use alpha stickers less often so this challenge was great at getting me rooting through my stash looking for different letters.

I decided as I was going to use Alpha Stickers I should make the feature of the page & found this quote on Pinterest which fits perfectly with my Daughters Festival photo!!

I chose my colours from the photograph when sorting through my alphas & I tried to find different size & textures to add interest. I mixed upper & lower case letters to make use of the letters I had.

I added splats to the ombre cardstock using Tim Holtz Distress stains, which is loads of fun before layering my 6x4 photo on the Creekside range of papers from One Canoe Two.

I finished the page by clustering elements on either side of the photo using chipboard, ephemera & word stickers.

How about making a long title with different alphas on your next layout.

Till next time x

UK Scrap Addicts Blog Hop Winner

Good afternoon everyone!

As you may remember, we did a blog hop recently. Some members of our design team made layouts using scraps, and in their blogs you could find a letter. When you put all those letters together you could form a word... And now we can reveal that the word was: STICKERS!

Thanks so much to everyone who participated. Out of all the entries with the correct secret word we have drawn a winner....

Congratulations Kirsty! Please get in touch with Michelle to receive your prize!

Keep scrapping!

Start Here | Alpha Stickers | Terri Morris

Good Morning Scrappy Friends, I'm feeling a little sorry for myself at the moment as I am full of cold and working nights. This month's theme is Alphabet stickers and I've used them to create a subtle background.

I added old, flat letter stickers to the background and then using a sponge covered them in white acrylic paint. I also dabbed on some turquoise paint to add a little more interest.

I put lots of layers of patterned paper behind my photos and then used embellishments to cluster around the sides.

I added a flair and perspextive from Bramble Fox along with some wooden embellishments from my stash.

Thanks for reading, I look forward to seeing all your creations using Alphabet Stickers. Don't forget to tag us on Facebook or Instagram using the #UKScrapAddicts or #uksa.

Happy Crafting!

Free Cut File for October

Are you starting to feel chilly yet?  There's definitely a nip in the air in the mornings but this is my absolute favourite time of year, especially when it's sunny and cold.  It feels like only last week that we were looking at cut files of daffodils and bunny rabbits but here we are in October already.

This month's cut file was designed by Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page and features a pair of witchy legs with hob nail boots and stripey tights but some of the team automatically thought of elves at Christmas too!  We'd love to see it being used in any way you think they would work, be it for Halloween or Christmas or just because you like black boots and stripey tights!

You can find instructions for downloading and using the cut file in Silhouette here.  And don't worry if you don't have an electronic die-cutter, we've got some ideas for using them without one here.

As always, we'd love to see what you create with the cut file so please do link us in the comments below and if you're on social media then please don't forget to use the hashtags #ukscrapaddicts and #uksacutfiles
