Night Time Sparkle / Jackie Ashton / Sequins

Hi crafters, Jackie here with my take on this months challenge - Sequins and Glitter.

For this month my layout is very minimalistic for me.

Night Time Sparkle

The photograph is of the first time I saw the Eiffel Tower - not only at night, but it was on the hour and it was sparkling - the photographs didn’t capture the actual sparkle, as it was over very quickly - but I managed to get the spot light beaming from the top.

I wanted the background paper to be slightly distressed, so added a thin layer of white gesso and added some squeezed lemonade oxide ink over the top using the packaging technique.

I added some sequins to thread, which I criss-crossed on the page, adding a few sequins to each thread.

I printed 2 copies of my photographs and added 3D foam to them, adding a die cut frame, which I cut in half to the edges of the photograph and added 2 label under my photographs to add some journalling.

For the title I used some mini alphabets from my stash and the ‘sparkle’ word is from PinkFresh Studio Joyful Day collection.

Don’t forget to share your layouts over on our Facebook page, we would love them using months challenge.

Thats all from me this month, till next time.

Happy scrapping

I love how your eyes sparkle | Di Willcox | Sparkle

Good morning Scrap Addicts! Di here today with my first layout as a UKSA creative team member, how exciting!!

'Sparkle' is this month's theme and as it so happens, I had the exact word in a puffy sticker set from the PinkFresh Studio 'Joyful Day' collection. Perfect!

I have lots of photos of my daughter (who's now 24) as a toddler but I struggle to scrap them as they have some distraction in the background that I'm not happy with or the colours/ patterns don't go with the modern papers. After scrolling through Pinterest for ideas I saw a few grid style layouts that use several photos cut down to the main focus point, so I chose a few of Molly, cut them down to 4 x 2 inches and arranged them on the page with papers from the a kit that featured papers from PinkFresh Studio and Pretty Little Studio. I also fussy cut some of the mandala style flowers from one paper and punched some chevrons out of another to create embellishments.

After I'd stuck the photos and papers down it seemed a bit flat to me so I doodled lines between to create more of a grid and then I got the 'pop' I wanted to achieve!
I added the title, embellishments and a few sequins (well it is sparkle month!) to finish the layout off.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with for 'Sparkle', I'll be looking out for lots of shiny layouts in the UK Scrap Addicts group on Facebook ;)

You Colour My World | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Tic Tac Toe

Hiya friends,

I can't believe we are nearly at the end of August already.....this means its nearly time for a new theme!

We still have a couple more layouts to share with you for this months theme of Tic Tac Toe. And I hope you like bright colourful rainbow layouts?

So I chose to use Circles, Rainbow and Multiple Alphas.

I started with punching different sized circles from blue, red, pink, yellow and blue patterned papers. I used a 3 inch, 2 inch and 1 inch circle and adhered these onto a piece of white cardstock.

I already loved how this layout started out.

Then I set to work on the title and embellishing. I chose to use 3 different alphas and wanted to use all glittered ones but change the font of each word. I love this bright title and different directions the words run make it more interesting too.

The photo, which can be seen just at the bottom of this photo, was layered with co-ordinating patterned papers that match the circles.

Each circle was then drawn around with a 0.8 black fineliner to help make them pop and give them more of a messy look.

I also added in some accent words from Pink Fresh Studio and used the co-ordinating hearts and stars to create a colour on colour embellishing.

It was then all finished off with a couple of tiny word stickers and some splashes of black ink!

Be sure to head on over to Youtube to watch the process video too.
See you next month!!

Summer Smiles | Lou Thompson | Tic Tac Toe

This months challenge was to use the Tic Tac Toe grid. You must take any line of 3 items from the grid, up, down or diagonal, and use these as part of your work. I have chosen the rainbows, circles and different alphas.

I thought about how I wanted to incorporate the circles and remembered these lovely wooden circles I had. I also came up with the idea of decorating the circles using papers with the colours of the rainbow. I used a circle punch to make the paper shapes and then applied to the wooden circles using double sided tape.

I wanted to further the idea of using circles so also used a Finnabair stamp set to add some more circles to my background

A selection of alphas were used to create the title for this layout

A cluster was created in the bottom right corner using ephemera, stickers, chipboards and flowers.

The wooden circles were stuck to the page to create a base for the photo. The photo was matted with some different coloured papers and then stuck to the page, careful not to stick right to the edge of the photo mat. This was so I could then tuck in stickers, chipboards, acetate, enamels and ephemera. Foam squares were applied to some pieces to add further dimension.

And here is the finished piece. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It's a really fun, summer piece that works great with the photo. I hope you like it and see you again next month :)

Waste Not.... | 6x6 Paper | RamblingsofGeo

Waste Not...

Something different from me this month, a pink happy 12 x 12 layout as its my Birthday today! - woooo

I am very conscious of the amount of waste that we get from scrapbooking, and you will always find me grabbing things out the table bins at crops, yep, i said it, im a scrappy bin diver, and proud!

One mans junk, is another mans treasure!

For this layout, i used the branding strips in my 6x6 paper pads to layer up behind my photo to make a nice colourful background.

I have tried to completely finish a Pink Paislee 6x6 pad, the Fancy Free one. I have 11.5 pages left, and no unused branding strips. Wooo

It feel so good to use things up!

Please also check out the process video of this layout, if you give it a go please leave a comment and share on our facebook group.

Why fit in...? | Alpha Stickers | Maria La Chica

Hello scrap addicts!

Thanks for joining me today  for another layout using alpha stickers and Thickers! I have got a video on youtube explaining the whole process, so please have a look at that as well!

As you can see, I have used turquoise/teal and black thickers. These are my favourite colours and I have plenty of different ones to play with!

I have added some mixed media in the form of watercolour splatters and I love the effect!

I didn't want to distract from the big title and the thickers and that's why I decided not to have any pattern paper. It's funny how I hoard pretty paper and then I choose not to use it! Ha!

I hope you will take part in this challenge and create layouts where your alpha stickers and thickers feature heavily! Don't forget that the amazing Crafty Ribbons are offering a generous £25 voucher to the winner! Pop over our facebook page to learn more!

Now go and watch my video :D
