Keepin' It Real | Kirei Baldwin | 6'' x 6'' Paper Pad

Hi Scrap Addicts!

Kirei here with the final blog post for the month where we have shown you our take on using 6'' x 6'' Paper Pads.... I pulled out a previous Lottie Loves Paper monthly kit that featured the Fancy Pants range 'The Bright Side' as I had the 6'' x 6'' paper pad add on to use up and I love the fresh colours of pale pink, red, yellow, green and pale blue together.

I love using a 6'' x 6'' paper pad as the smaller details look great when layering behind a photo as they don't overwhelm it. And as the details on the paper are all scaled down you can use up small pieces and still see the overall effect of the pattern.

So I used three of the papers with slightly distressed edges to back the photo.

Then I added lots of the lovely matching diecuts, chipboard stickers and puffy stickers in two clusters around the photo.

To edge the layout I cut some small pieces of the same three papers and just layered them along the top and bottom edge and added a few staples.

To finish off I added journaling and a title....

Why don't you share your layouts using a 6'' x 6'' paper pad over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook page and join in with the chat.... we love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking, happy scrapping!

Furzton Lake | Amy Kattenbelt | 6x6 Papers

Hello, Amy here today bringing you my take on using 6x6 paper pads. I love 6x6 paper pads they are such a great way to get a lot of variety of papers (often the whole collection) and the smaller patterns are very versatile. I wanted to show this by trying to use the 6x6 paper pad in a few ways...

I cut 1 inch strips to create the background, selecting my papers to include lots of variety or patterns and colours. I cut my 6x4 photo along to shorten it slightly to be about 5.5x4 and this allowed me to also use the paper from the 6x6 pad as background layers behind the photo.
Once the background pieces and photo was stuck down to my white 12x12 cardstock i set about making some embellishments. I used a X-Cut butterfly and stamp set on the of the papers to create butterflies which i adhered using both wet glue and foam pads to give them some dimension.

I then used a little black ink and a date stamp to splatter around the butterflies.

I also used paper from the 6x6 pad to make my own 'thickers' style alphabet. Using my cuttlebug and fun foam i cut my title, then cut it again in a patterned paper and glued them on top of each other.

This strip pattern is a favourite of mine, i must have done something similar at least 4 times previously. There are lots of variations you can make, for example the thickenss of the stripes, or how you edge them, or you can off set them so they arent all in a neat row. Using a different paper pad creates very different looks. If i am on a budget but love a new collection I will often just buy the 6x6 paper pad and the die cut pack, its suprising how many ways there are to make layouts using just these supplies. Anyway, ill leave you with a link to the you tube video for this layout, have fun playing with 6x6 paper and be sure to share your creations over on our facebook group!

Real Life | Terri Morris | Sketch

Well 2017 is fast passing us by, I'm shocked that we are now in May already. I'm currently recovering from an operation a couple of weeks ago so thought it would be good to document some of the things that happen at home.

My boy cat Oscar loves to share our food, especially breakfast. He sits by my side staring at me until I give him a cornflake or two. He spends his days curled up on the sofa with me or sat in my craft room.

This month we had a choice of sketches to use as our inspiration. I used the sketch above created by Laura Rumble and have pretty much stuck to it. I love using sketches but often flip them or twist them to create a layout that doesn't really look like the sketch in the end.

I used the new Fancy Pants Family & Co. collection. The background I chose is very busy so I tried to keep the layout as simple as possible. I used a stencil and black ink to add texture on the background. I used the 6x6 paper pad to create a layered background behind the photo and make it stand out against the background.

I added in some enamel dots and Heidi Shine mist splatters to add in more texture. I absolutely love this collection. It is so bright and vibrant. Often the opposite of what I usually use in my scrapbooking. I often go for pastel or distressed style collections.

I'd love to see your take on Laura's sketch, just tag UK Scrap Addicts on Instagram. I'm hoping meet up with a fellow UK Scrap Addicts CT member whilst I'm off which will be great.

Happy Crafting!

Castell Caerfilli | Susan | multiple photos

 March
Good morning and welcome to my first post as a proud member of the UK Scrap Addicts design team. When I saw our topic for this month my first thought was, ‘Oh no!’ because I almost always scrap with one photo, or two at the most. I think the trick with using lots of photos is to arrange the page so it doesn’t look crowded – I really don’t want the ‘get all my photos on, come hell or high water, look’! So I rapidly put myself back into my comfort zone and drew a sketch!

Sometimes my sketches are literally a quick doodle on a scrap of paper – how you do it isn’t important – as long as it gets you past that paper shuffling stage it’s done its job

I adore these papers from the Fancy Pants, Golden Days
imagecollection available at UK store, Hey Little Magpie. All the matching bits and bobs make the page hang together so well.

The gold alphas I have used are cheapies from Hobbycraft. They are very pretty but the sticky back does peel off so I keep them in place with wet glue.

That’s it from me; come back tomorrow for another DT post – you won’t regret your visit.
