Me, Myself and I | Kirei Baldwin | Selfie

Hi UK Scrap Addicts!

Kirei here with my take on this month's challenge which was to scrap a selfie of yourself. As a scrapbooker I know how easy it is to be behind the camera and not in front of it, so I do try to make sure that I get a good selfie whether with someone else or on my own. I'm also a fan of Snapchat filters as you can see from the photos I used on my layout!

For my layout I used the fab 'All Heart' collection from Crate Paper as it had great positive words that I thought went really well with this layout.

I added small embellishment clusters around my photos using the coordinating stickers, metal charms and tassels, along with some enamel dots from my stash.

And then finished off with a title using Thickers from the Amy Tangerine 'Stay Sweet' collection. I actually stuck the letters onto some of the patterned paper first and then cut round each word as it didn't show up quite so well when the letters were stuck straight to the photos.

So why don't you get scrapping a selfie and share your layout over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook group. If you want some more inspiration just check out what the rest of the fab Creative Team have been sharing on the blog this month... and I'll see you next month for another challenge!

Happy Scrapping!

# Be your Selfie | Sheena Rowlands | Selfie

Hi there UK Scrap Addicts x Sheena here again.

Our challenge this month is to "Scrap a Selfie".

This challenge will be harder for some scrappers & easier for others. But I do think as scrapbookers and memory keepers we should all be in front of the camera sometimes to help document the full story.

I haven't always liked having my photo taken to be honest but over the past 10 years I've embraced the selfie so had a good few to choose from.

I finally chose a selfie with a snapchat filter as who doesn't love a snapchat filter!!

# Be your Selfie.

I used the photo as my starting point for my paper choices. I found and used the last of a range I really loved - My Minds Eye - My Story- plus lots of bits and pieces from my stash.

I started by adding ink oxides to my background in 2 shades of pink/red. When it was dry I started to gather together 6 clusters starting with either a Project Life 3x4 card or a frame as the base.

To finish I added a Perspective as my title to one of the clusters then added a few splatters of black paint to finish it off after machine sewing the cardstock on to a black background.

I hope you feel inspired to take on our challenge & we would love to see your Selfie layouts over on our Facebook group.

Till next time x

Keepin It Real | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Selfie

Hello everyone!!

I'm here launching our new challenge for the month and sharing with you what I have created.

So this months theme is.....selfies!!

We want to encourage you to be in front of the camera and not always behind it. A selfie is exactly what it says - a photo of yourself. It has to be just yourself in the photo. So if you're not the sort of person to take photos of yourself then this is the challenge for you. Grab your camera and get snapping. We cannot wait to see what you create!!

And here is my take on the theme....

I'm not shy when it comes to taking selfies and never take myself seriously when I do. I don't pose for the perfect Instagram photo or any of my social media accounts - instead I'll take tongue in cheek photos or silly selfies.

For this layout I used my favourite collection, Sparkle City by Shimelle and just loved all the bright fun colours to help with the playfulness of the photos I had taken.

I did use some Thickers I had in my stash for the title and it was great to get these used as I've had them years!! And this was the perfect title for me - Keepin' it Real!.

I took a series of photos on my phone with different poses and chose 4 of the best ones and printed these as 3x4 inch photos. I matted them with a single layer of patterned paper (which was predominantly white) to help the photos pop from the back ground. I did add some messy ink splatters with a white Posca paint pen.

I had the speciality velum from the collection that I was terrified to cut into but I managed to use some on this layout. Behind my photos I used a 5 inch strip horizontally to give my photos a base and I love how the pops of holographic come through.

Next I started embellishing so I added all sorts of stickers, washi, chipboard, enamel dots and puffy stickers (I really went for all of the things!) and used things that worked well with my photos.

Finally I added some Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers to help really show my personality on a page.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post and I realllllllly encourage you to join in this month. Be sure to head on over to our Facebook Group and join us there where we share all of the creative teams designs every month.

See you next month

Claire!
