Scrap Selfie I Essie Jane I Selfie

Hi -Essie here with my Selfie layout for this months theme. I love taking Selfie's of the everyday things as well as special occasions and for this layout I've used a Selfie of my mum and I enjoying some scrapping time together at crop.

I've used the lovely 'I Heart Crafting' collection from Echo Park plus some other bits and pieces from my stash.

I love a layout using the 'shelf' design element and so I've used patterned paper on the bottom section of my white cardstock and created the 'shelf' with a border sticker.I've then layered up ephemera and stickers on each side of my photo.
I've added my title along the border sticker and used phrase strips in a diagonal down from that.
I hope you've enjoyed our month of Selfie layouts and we would love to see your pages in our Facebook group

Me, Myself and I | Kirei Baldwin | Selfie

Hi UK Scrap Addicts!

Kirei here with my take on this month's challenge which was to scrap a selfie of yourself. As a scrapbooker I know how easy it is to be behind the camera and not in front of it, so I do try to make sure that I get a good selfie whether with someone else or on my own. I'm also a fan of Snapchat filters as you can see from the photos I used on my layout!

For my layout I used the fab 'All Heart' collection from Crate Paper as it had great positive words that I thought went really well with this layout.

I added small embellishment clusters around my photos using the coordinating stickers, metal charms and tassels, along with some enamel dots from my stash.

And then finished off with a title using Thickers from the Amy Tangerine 'Stay Sweet' collection. I actually stuck the letters onto some of the patterned paper first and then cut round each word as it didn't show up quite so well when the letters were stuck straight to the photos.

So why don't you get scrapping a selfie and share your layout over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook group. If you want some more inspiration just check out what the rest of the fab Creative Team have been sharing on the blog this month... and I'll see you next month for another challenge!

Happy Scrapping!

Let's Go | Jackie Ashton | Selfie

Hello crafters, Jackie here with my layout for this months theme ‘Selfie’.  I’m not ashamed to say, but I love taking a selfie, either on my own or with friends, I never shy away from getting in a photograph when I can as often as I can.  I think its an important part of scrapbooking and memory keeping to get yourself in the photograph as often as you can.

For my layout this month, I decided not to use a photo of myself, but I wanted to included a few friends, and record a memory of our recent trip to Paris.

Let’s Go ...

I started my layout by added patterned papers to the left side of the page, and added a punched border to one of the strips, and added machine stitches down this strip.

Then I wanted to add more texture to the page, so added some hand stitched circles, that will form a base for my photograph.

I layered my photographs with several pieces of patterned papers and added it over the top of the stitched circles.

I also added some hand stitched circles to the bottom of the page and add a small cluster of embellishments.

For my title I added a perspective.

That all from me this month, and please don’t be afraid of getting yourself in the photographs you are taking, and remember not all selfie’s have to be of you on your own, why not take a few with a group of friends, or even your pets, really the list of selfie taking is endless, go out and enjoy the fun of taking a selfie or two and get them documented on a page.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what we have designed with this month theme, and don’t forget to share your layouts over on our Facebook group, we would love to see them.

Till next time,

Happy scrapping

Fun in the Sun | Keighley Brennan | Selfie

Hey Everyone, Keighley here today sharing my Selfie layout for our theme this month. I chose to scrap a selfie of my son TJ and myself, I hardly ever take a selfie on my own usually with one of the kids or my hubby. I don’t like this photo of myself but I love the photo because it’s one of me and TJ together.

I had a look into my stash for a collection to use and I chose The Best Summer Ever by Echo Park, I felt the colours worked will with the photo.

I cut a sun beam on my Silhouette and machine stitched through each of the sun rays. I love the texture this gives, I distressed the edges of each sun ray to add more texture and dimension to the background. I cut a card from the cut a part sheet to use as my title which reads “Fun in the Sun”. I backed my photo with a couple of paper Scraps also distressing the edges of the papers for more texture. I finished my adding a couple of stickers from the 12x12 sticker sheet and some enamel dots.

You can watch my layout process here on the UKSA YouTube Channel.

Please take a look at the UKSA Facebook group where there’s lots inspiration from the team aswell as the group members, as always the album is full of stunning scrappy loveliness.

Look on the bright side | Sam Ball | Selfie

With so many snapchat and similar filter apps readily available that are free to use, I can’t deny that I do like the odd selfie, or two, or three, or four!

That said, ironically for this month’s challenge I didn’t use a filter, but used a photo taken on a holiday a couple of years ago.

Never one to just sit by the pool, I always like to be reading or doing a puzzle on my ipad, but I struggle to see the screen! The hat serves for this purpose and doubles up as a means for keeping my face out of the sun, and sometimes I find myself taking the odd selfie whilst lounging around!

Initially, I gessoed a section of the white cardstock to allow the paint pigment to run freely, and whilst it wasn’t intentional, the subsequent effect does somewhat resemble the way that sea and foaming waves meet.

The large dotty paper reminded me of the simple prints like ticking stripes, used on so many old style deckchairs, so I grounded the page with a large panel of it, followed by a panel of coastline ‘black & white’ photos. I’m always drawn to these types of patterned papers, but putting them to use is another thing!

After back mounting the photo panel with a small pink polka dot patterned paper, again chosen because I thought it quintessentially English, I clustered a selection of summer themed chipboard pieces, including a swimsuit, sun glasses and even a pelican, not something we tend to get on the British coastlines!

I completed the layout with a cluster in the top left of the page, as this was very much where my eyes in the photo were focusing towards, so it seemed natural to add a little something there!

I’ve loved using a selfie this month, and I’m sure you must have the odd one too!

So if you’re feeling inspired by this months' theme, why not share your layout with us over on our Facebook page, or tag us on Instagram?

Happiness Looks Good On You | Karen Moss | Selfies

Hello, hello and its time for my version of this month's challenge - scrap a selfie.  This month I decided to make a double layout.

I have a process video here that shows my method of making a double page which involves running my paper and embellishments across two pieces of card and then cutting them apart down the middle when the layout is completed!

I have added dimension to my page by layering up die cuts with lots of foam pads and finished it off with Curios (decorated resin domes) pearls and gems.

I hope you find time to grab a cuppa and have a look at my process video.  You can also get more Selfie inspiration over on our FaceBook Page or on Instagram.

Don't forget to check back to see what the other lovely UKSA DT have made.

Rainbow Hair Don't Care | Vik Davies (Guest Designer) | Selfie

Hi it's Vik here and I've been asked to be Guest Designer this month for UKScrapAddicts. The theme for the month is "selfie". This is not something I usually do...selfies or scrap about myself....but I can now say I'm completely hooked with Snapchat filters!!!!!

To create my layout I used the Amy Tangerine "Slice of Life" and Echo Park "I am Mom" collections.

I started by using the "smooshing" technique to add some yellow distress oxide ink spray to my patterned paper background. One of the papers had a bright chevron design on it so I cut out 2 of the chevrons and placed them on opposite sides to dive up my page.

Next I used my Silhouette to cut a Polaroid strip from some black card stock and placed my photos behind the cut file.

I love to fussy cut so started fussy cutting elements from both of the collections to create extra embellishments. I added these to my layout along with some stickers and chipboard pieces from the same collections. I placed these into opposing corners to create a diagonal feature across the page. I then added a few enamel hearts, some blue distress ink splatters, stamping and some journaling to complete all the finishing touches.

Be sure to head on over and follow me on Instagram here - Vik Davies Instagram

I have recently started my YouTube channel too so would love it if you could head on over and take a look  - Vik Davies Youtube

Hello | Stephanie Squires | Selphy

Hi all and welcome to this months blog post...

So I had a great time with this moths challenge by making a mixed media layout!  I used a sheet of Vicky Boutin's mixed media paper and some pastel prima water colours.  I started with the pink and smooched it on the top left hand corner of the page.  I mixed the yellow and pink together to make a peachy colour and then used the yellow.  After every colour I used I made sure that the colour next to it hadn't dried, that the colours over lapped and that I came a but further down the page resulting in the mauve going from the top to the bottom of the page. Once this had dried I flicked the water colours on to the matching colour so it was a much darker shade of the same colour,  I then flicked gold and then white to complete the background.

I stuck the cutfile on the top of my page just sticking the top part so the hearts were all lifting (I had previously used this cutfile as a mask so it had white texture paste on it which helped with this design.

Once this was stuck down I created my photo cluster.  I used lots of bits and pieces from Paige Taylor Evans's Grateful range to do this.

I cut two pieces of paper to 3 x 4 and tucked them behind the photo using foam pads to get the dimension that I wanted.

I then tucked in the ephemera around the photo and the paper mounts using foam pads as and when to give the height I needed.  Next came the perspectives and then the transfers were used to complete this layout!

And here it is my finished layout!

Please let us know how you got on with this challenge and tag us in on Instagram so we can all see what you have made....Until next month my scrapbooking friends....

Take care,

Steph xoxo

Smash that Selfie! | RamblingsofGeo | Selfies

Hey everyone!

I hope your all well, and enjoying September's challenge so far!

I have completed the challenge in my Purple cutesy smash book, and I have used 4 snapchat photos printed on a 4x6 and cut into 4 individual 2x3 photos printed on my own printer at home.

I decided to use mixed media for this layout challenge; i used some Vicki Boutin Creativefx in Rose gold through a Bramble Fox stencil. I also did some stamping, and used the Vicki Boutin Stamp and die set with a flower style stamp. The brightest ink i had to hand was the Vicki Boutin Color wheel inks which i got for a really good deal in Hobbycrafts clearance section a while ago along with the Die/stamp set! - I then flicked some Shimmerz 'Its mint to be' over the top.

I backed the papers on a floral printed paper, and then layered up some washi tape behind the photos.

I used some stickers from the Shimelle sticker book, and some Amy Tangerine puffy stickers from an older collection of hers. I tried to used colours that would compliment the page on the left hand side of the Smashbook layout.

There is a process video of this layout getting put together, enjoy!

37 | Amy Kattenbelt | Selfie

Hello Lovely UK Scrap Addicts. Amy here, sharing this months layout on the theme of "Selfie". Like a lot of us scrapbookers I am guilty of not being in many photos at all, and therefore do not feature on many of my layouts. Actually that is not true, I scrap plenty of my childhood photos, but that's not a selfie so I digress. However I have always tried to use a profile photo of myself on Social Media, and from time to time I think its a nice idea to scrapbook them. So that's what I have done for this layout.

For this layout I went with a drippy watercolour mixed media background in pale purple shades.
The papers and die cuts are from the new Pinkfresh Studio collection 'Just A Little Lovely'. I am really enjoying working with pastel tones at the moment so this collection is perfect.

I knew I just had to include this 'love your selfie' sticker from the new Vicki Bouton 'Wildflower and Honey' collection. But I also used some postive phrase stickers and die cuts from the above mentioned Pinkfresh studio collection too.

I love this little tag from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection called Midnight, but being a mum to 3 boys I hadn't had an opportunity to use it until now!

I finished of my layout by adding a simple title of '@ 37', my age when the photo was taken, and some shiny enamel dots.

Thanks for popping over to look at my layout in more detail. Why don't you join on on our Facebook group and share some of your Selfie Layouts, we would love to get to know you better!
