Staying Home | Zoe (zola28) | Moodboard

Personally I love a mood-board to inspire creativity and the one created by Amy this month certainly did that for me!

The colour palette in the mood-board really spoke to me as did the rainbow, pink brickwork and the kaleidoscope of butterflies, in fact it was just perfect for me.

I started with some mixed media using my new AMAZING water colours and layered some pink Heidi Swapp Textured Paste using my Tim Holtz brickwork stencil (one of my most used stencils).

I backed my Rainbow cut file using the Pinkfresh Studios Noteworthy collection and also made myself some bows using my new die (already a firm favourite in my small collection).

I used my Martha Stewart Butterfly punch to create my kaleidoscope coming up and through the centre of the rainbow. (I adore how this bit turned out as I had trapped space there before and was really struggling with it from a composition perspective).

I finished by embellishing around my photo clusters and adding some perspectives from Bramble Fox.

I enjoyed making a layout for the mood-board. Please make sure you share how this mood-board inspires you this month over on our facebook group.

Not Going Out Out | Jackie Ashton | Hand Made Embellishments

Hi Crafters, Jackie here, with my take on this month theme - handmade products.

So for this month I did a selection of tags that I plan to use on my layouts.

I started by die cutting several sizes of  tags, circles, labels etc from patterned paper, and stamped some sentiments onto some of these shapes.    I mainly used a 6x6 pad and scraps I had from this collection.

Then I just randomly assembled the tags in various sizes and adding a few additional embellishments to each.

Some of the tags are specific to a photograph I know I have, but the majority of them are just random ones I will use on my layouts.

Not Going Out ... Out

This is 9x12 size layout, so I printed my photographs slightly smaller than the normal 3 x 4 size as I wanted a small gap between each photo across the page.

The story behind the photographs is how we went out on Thursday nights to ‘Clap for the NHS’ and also to socialise with my neighbours, but at the same time adhere to the Social Distance guidelines of being 2m apart.  So even though we was outside, we wasn’t actually going out out.  To be honest, during lockdown it was a lifesaver for me, knowing that each week I had something to look forward to for an hour or so and with the adding benefit of being able to socialise with others.

So to put my page together, I choose 3 tag from my hand made embellishments.

Cutting the background paper down to 9x12, I added two layers of patterned paper across the middle, leaving a small border showing of each patterned paper, and added a punched border to the bottom edge.

I added the largest tag to the lower section of the page and used the other two as at the top potion of the page.

After sticking all the tags into place, I added a few more embellishments around these clusters to bring the whole pages together, using stickers, prespextives, chipboard shapes, enamal dots.

I backed the prespextives with patterned paper and used two alphas for my title.

Having the tags pre-assembled helped this layout come together quickly.  The tags I'd made  were simple in design and allowed me to add more embellishments to them, once they were on my layout.

Why don’t you give making a few tags a go and add them to your next couple of layouts, I must admit I got carried away and now have several collections with hand-made tags ready to go on my next layouts.

Don’t forget to share your layouts over in our Facebook group, we would love to see them especially if you have had a go at making some of your own hand-made embellishments to use of your layouts.

Till next time

Happy scrapping

Adore You | Sarah (ManxyCatCrafts) | Handmade Embellishments

Hey! Sarah here back after a break from the scrappy world and gosh I have missed it!!

I have my take on this months theme of Handmade Embellishments today.
I decided to create 3D butterflies one of my fav embellishments to make. I combined diecut vellum with alcohol inks to create an interesting pattern on each one and topped them with gems.

For my layout I chose a creative kit and handmade watercolours by Little Rainbow Moon to go with the mixed media butterflies. I used the Vicki Boutin mixed media paper and added lots of watercolour across the page with gilding flakes in silver over the top.

I printed the photo of my baby boy Jamys in black and white so it would stand out over the messy watercolour background. The papers in the kit were all different textures and worked well with the page, I added some of the alcohol ink paper matching the butterflies too which tied it altogether.

For my title I used white Perspective words by Bramble Fox I do love a scripty font!

Finally I added a few extra gems and stickers around the page and some splashes of white ink.

I have a video of the process linked below if you'd like to see it all come together.

Thanks for joining me and have a happy scrappy day :)

There's No One Like You | Masculine | Jackie Ashton

Hi Crafters,

So this month our theme is ‘masculine’ layout, so I choose these photographs from 2009 of my son climbing a large climbing frame on a day out at the zoo.

There’s No one Like You

I used Pink Fresh Studio - Escape The Ordinary, and started by cutting patterns from one of sheets of papers and using them as backing to each photograph.

I added 3D foam to the back of each photograph to add dimension.

I added some embellishments from the same collection, which worked well with my photographs.

For my title I cut the phase from one of the patterned papers.

And finished the layout with some Bramble Fox perspectives in my stash.

Hope you can join us this month with your masculine layouts and share them on our Facebook page

Till next time

Happy scrapping

Let's Go | Jackie Ashton | Selfie

Hello crafters, Jackie here with my layout for this months theme ‘Selfie’.  I’m not ashamed to say, but I love taking a selfie, either on my own or with friends, I never shy away from getting in a photograph when I can as often as I can.  I think its an important part of scrapbooking and memory keeping to get yourself in the photograph as often as you can.

For my layout this month, I decided not to use a photo of myself, but I wanted to included a few friends, and record a memory of our recent trip to Paris.

Let’s Go ...

I started my layout by added patterned papers to the left side of the page, and added a punched border to one of the strips, and added machine stitches down this strip.

Then I wanted to add more texture to the page, so added some hand stitched circles, that will form a base for my photograph.

I layered my photographs with several pieces of patterned papers and added it over the top of the stitched circles.

I also added some hand stitched circles to the bottom of the page and add a small cluster of embellishments.

For my title I added a perspective.

That all from me this month, and please don’t be afraid of getting yourself in the photographs you are taking, and remember not all selfie’s have to be of you on your own, why not take a few with a group of friends, or even your pets, really the list of selfie taking is endless, go out and enjoy the fun of taking a selfie or two and get them documented on a page.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what we have designed with this month theme, and don’t forget to share your layouts over on our Facebook group, we would love to see them.

Till next time,

Happy scrapping
