Naughty or Nice | Kirei Baldwin | Embossing Folders

 Hi UK Scrap Addicts!

It's Kirei here wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, I hope Santa has been good to you this year!

I am sharing a layout for this month's fun challenge which was to use embossing folders on your layout, now I definitely hadn't used them for quite some time so was good to pull them out and have a play. I had this idea in my head to make some baubles and add different embossing details to each one before embellishing and I am really happy with the end result!

I firstly drew the baubles and then cut them out before putting each shape through my Big Shot to emboss them with different patterns. I took some ephemera and small pieces of patterned papers to decorate each bauble and then added gold stitching.

I took a 11 1/2" piece of white cardstock, distressed the edges and then stuck it to a frame of patterned paper before stitching a border with gold thread. I worked out where I wanted each bauble to go on the layout and then added gold stitching to represent the hanger for each bauble.

Then each bauble was stuck down, some of them on foam pads to create dimension.

The two cute photos of my nephews from last Christmas were mounted on patterned papers and stuck down with foam pads on the top edges. Keeping the bottom of the photos flat to the layout makes it easier to add embellishments around them.

I then added a title and some journaling to finish my layout off....

Thanks for popping by the blog, wishing you all the best for the rest of the festive season!

Happy Scrapping!

You Are... | Keighley Brennan | Handmade Embellishments

Hey Everyone, Keighley here today, it’s great to be back! Here’s my layout for this months theme of handmade embellishments. I chose to create some tassel paper clips and a tassel bow using embroidery thread.

I then added those to a banner I made, which I took inspiration from a layout I found on Pinterest. I’ve used All Girl by Echo Park, perfect for scrapping my this cute photo of my daughter Darcie. Sticking with the tassel theme I also added tassels to the bottom of the banner.

I added lots of stickers from the collection and I finished off by adding some gems and some Bramble Fox stars from my stash.

If you would like to see how my layout came together and also how I made my tassel paper clips please check out my process video here on the UKSA YouTube Channel.

Adore You | Sarah (ManxyCatCrafts) | Handmade Embellishments

Hey! Sarah here back after a break from the scrappy world and gosh I have missed it!!

I have my take on this months theme of Handmade Embellishments today.
I decided to create 3D butterflies one of my fav embellishments to make. I combined diecut vellum with alcohol inks to create an interesting pattern on each one and topped them with gems.

For my layout I chose a creative kit and handmade watercolours by Little Rainbow Moon to go with the mixed media butterflies. I used the Vicki Boutin mixed media paper and added lots of watercolour across the page with gilding flakes in silver over the top.

I printed the photo of my baby boy Jamys in black and white so it would stand out over the messy watercolour background. The papers in the kit were all different textures and worked well with the page, I added some of the alcohol ink paper matching the butterflies too which tied it altogether.

For my title I used white Perspective words by Bramble Fox I do love a scripty font!

Finally I added a few extra gems and stickers around the page and some splashes of white ink.

I have a video of the process linked below if you'd like to see it all come together.

Thanks for joining me and have a happy scrappy day :)

Not Going Out | Guest Designer - Denise Holmes | Combining Old and New Collections

Hi everyone, Denise here, I was delighted to be asked to be a guest designer this month.

The theme this month is to use old and new collections on your layout. At the beginning of lockdown I had a really big tidy up of my crafty stash so I remembered I had found some old Webster's Pages papers and embellishments, with perfect wording about staying home and rainbows, so I decided to use these on my layout.

One of the background papers was an older one too.

The colours of the Webster's Pages were very pink, peachy and summery so I went with those colourways using some new papers, together with a recent perspective for my title -  'Not Going Out'.

Considering the phrases were from an older collection, they were perfect for a layout for during this weird lockdown phase we are going through!

Love | Keighley Brennan | Vertical

Hey UKSA, Keighley here today sharing my layout for our theme this month. I love vertical layouts, they work really well on A4 layouts. I started off by adding a strip of patterned paper down the right side of my layout and added lots of black paint splatters, I did need to come back at the end and add a couple more splatters because I covered up quite a lot of them.

I punched circles of patterned paper in different sizes and also punched my photo into a circle. I attached these down the join of the pattern paper strip and the cardstock, over lapping them and popping some up on foam. I also looked for any circle elements within the die cuts and stickers and tucked those in too.

I finished off by adding some fussy cut butterflies and some puffy hearts that were gold but I coloured in with a black sharpie so they worked well with my layout, something I’ve been doing a lot recently to get my stash used up.

Little Stories | Kirei Baldwin | Use More Than One Collection

Hi UK Scrap Addicts!

It's Kirei here with a layout for this month's challenge which was to use more than one collection. I like many of you probably do tend to just stick to the same collection as it is easy to match up papers and embellishments so I liked this challenge!

I pulled out Pink Paislee's 'Again and Again' collection which went well with the photo of me with an owl... and then looked through my stash to see what else worked with this collection. I still had some bits left from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes 'Heritage' collection and it was perfect as it had similar muted colours.

First I stuck three strips of papers from the two collections down the left side of the layout, distressing the edges as I went. I also used a mix of patterned papers to back my photo and then attached that to the layout using foam pads on the top edge.

Then I built up embellishment clusters to each side of my photo and above it using lots of ephemera and stickers from both collections.

To finish off I included some journaling on a couple of labels, and then added a title from the coordinating sticker set. As you can see I had the perfect ephemera to go with my photo!

Why don't you check out what the rest of the Creative team have come up with this month, there's lots of fab inspiration for using more than one collection and it's a great way to use up that stash! Also join us over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook page where you can share your layouts. Thanks for looking and I'll see you next month!

Happy Scrapping!

Seesaw | Keighley Brennan | More Than One Collection

Hey UKSA, Keighley here sharing my layout for our theme this month to use more
than one collection. I started out with pulling all my Shimelle collections from my stash, some are just bits and pieces and others are nearly full collections. My thought process was because they was from the same designer the colours should match really well.

I used lots of different papers to back my photo, from Little by Little, Box of Crayons and field trip, I used a large strip of paper from the Field trip Collection which included lots of different colours, this made it so much easier to pick embellishments from all the different collections because everything matched so well. I created three clusters of embellishments from all the different collections and then I decided to look into my stash and pulled out lots of different hearts from all different collections such as Pebbles, Amy Tan and Pink Paislee.

I enjoyed creating this layout so much more than I thought I would, the only issue with pulling out lots of different collections and digging through my stash was it was so much messier than working with just one collection.

Enjoy The Little Things | Keighley Brennan | Paper Folding

Hey Everyone, Keighley here sharing my layout for this months theme, Paper Folding. I have never attempted paper folding on a scrapbook layout before, so this months theme was a challenge for me.

I was being a little ambitious and decided I would attempt butterflies. I practised on some printer paper first, and felt I was getting the hang off it enough to give it a go on patterned paper. I didn’t take into account the difference in paper thickness the patterned paper was very thick compared to the printer paper, which made it slightly more difficult. I’d definitely recommend using a thinner paper possibly from a paper pad rather than single sheets.

I backed a cutfile a bought from the silhouette store (by Jillibean Soup) for my title, I felt it was very fitting for the photo of Darcie covered in mud. I added some stickers and enamel dots and my folded butterflies around the page.
