Hi Scrappers, it Jackie with my layout this month using a black and white photograph.I also find that using a black and white photograph is easy because you don't have to think about the colours of the photograph clashing with your choice of patterned papers.
I printed these photos in black and white from my trip to Paris earlier this year.
I used the lovely collection from Pebbles - Girl Squad.

Hi everyone, Jackie here with my layout featuring one simple cluster.
For my layout this month, I’ve continued with a 9x12 layout that will be included into my Paris album and added a cluster of embellishments to the lower part of my page. I used this cluster as a place to add the date and location, as this layout is one of several taken whilst at the Efflel Tower, I didn't add any journalling.
My cluster includes several layers - dollie - tag - vellum - wood veneer - puffy stickers - heart shape, all layered together to make a beautiful cluster on my layout.

Hello, Jackie here using one of this month's sketches. I love to use sketches sometimes just to get me started on a layout, others, like this one, following the design but making the layout work for me.
So here's what I did, I decided to reduce the sketch and do a 9x12 one instead. I love that my albums have a mixture of different sized pages, as well as various pocket pages.
I used a photograph of Sheena and me on our way back from teaching a weekend workshop, hence the title.
After cutting my cardstock down to the required size, I distressed the background using a Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad - Broken China, using the packaging technique - adding the ink to a piece of plastic bag and a few drops of water, before applying to the cardstock. Once dry I added a few lightly stamped lines to the background, to give it some visual texture.
I layered the photograph on patterned papers from the new collection by Amy Tangerine - Oh a Whim and added a piece of vellum under the photographs for adding texture.
The stamped image to the top of the photograph was stamped onto plain white cardstock using the same stamp I used for the background.
For the title, I had run out of Es so I used two Fs and cut down an I to form the bottoms of the Es.
To the top right of the layout, I felt that it was an empty space, so I added a few strips of patterned papers and a flair badge I found in my stash.
I finished the layout, by adding a few word stickers around the photographs area, from one of the Simple Stories Collections, wood veneer stars.

This month the Creative Team were given a choice of sketches to work with for our blog posts & I chose this great sketch by Laura Rumble.
I'm a real fan of sketches particularly when you are feeling like your mojo is non existent, this happens to us all believe me, or when you don't have lots of time to sit and twiddle, a sketch can make a great starting point.

For my page I turned the sketch upside down taking the photo cluster up into the right hand corner plus I made my page 9x12in which is a size I really enjoy working with.
I stuck quite closely to the sketch and added inks to my background paper using the packaging technique before layering the photo up on lots of patterned papers.
The majority of the supplies used are from the Dear Lizzy - So Lovely current range. When I saw the background paper covered in French words I had to buy a sheet or two or three so I could scrap my recent trip to Paris with friends Sam & Jackie.
As the background is so busy I followed the sketch & added a tag behind my photo recording details of our trip.

Hi everyone, Emma Marie here today sharing my May layout.
Each month we have a different theme or prompt to work with, and in May we're working with sketches!
This is the sketch I used to create my layout. It's a 12x12 sketch, but I adapted it to the 9x12 size I typically work in.
I created a mixed media background to match the sketch, using some Distress Mist and Color Shine in Cracked Pistachio and Butter respectively. I also decided to add some gold texture paste to the layout, using a stencil from Hip Kit, to add a bit more dimension and interest to the layout.
The majority of this layout is made using my Felicity Jane kit. I loved how the colours went perfectly with the mists I had picked out, and featured those traditional colours we tend to associate with Easter.
The sketch included a tag, which I decided to add at the top of my layout as it fit better there with my vertical photo. I made the tag out of plain cardstock, and then added washi tape to add that decorative touch. It's a black and white washi so doesn't overpower the layout, but adds an extra layer of visual interest. I also added several rubber embellishments to the page. These are some of my favourite things to use, so I was really happy to be able to get some rubber phrases and hearts down on to the layout.
For the most part I feel I kept pretty close to the sketch. I did however add a smaller embellishment cluster to the top right of the page to help fill in some of the dead space at the top of the layout. I used some scraps of patterned paper as well as some more of the washi tape to help tie the two parts of the layout together, and then lightly embellished.
This was a fun layout to create! The photo doesn't really have a 'story' to it, which is why there isn't any journalling, but sometimes it's nice to just create for the enjoyment, without a deeper purpose behind it. :)

Hi everyone, Emma Marie (SciFi Scrapper) here today to share with you my latest layout for the UK Scrap Addicts!
This month are focus has been on stitching of all kinds, and I decided to use that on a layout about Mother's Day and the flowers I'd given my mum. I'd picked up the most amazing bunch of tulips for her, but they went through quite the journey before they made it to her. This layout focuses on her receiving the flowers and them looking lovely. The facing pocket page will be all about the reality of the situation and how they were somewhat battered and bruised by the time she received them.
I decided for my layout to do some watercolour tulips, and then hand stitch all around them to add detail. The stems I did in a subtle green that wasn't too overpowering, and the flowers I did in white, so that the watercolour could really shine.
I also used some wood veneer butterflies I've had in my stash for years. I was really glad to finally get them on a layout and love how they look with the flowers. They came as one piece so I did have to cut them apart, but I don't think you can really tell, and I think they look better scattered about the layout rather than in one solid piece.
Towards the end of making this layout I decided that it didn't look quite finished. I decided to do a running stitch around the edge of the layout in white, which not only helped make the layout feel more complete, but also gave me a handy spot for my journalling.
