Adventure Awaits | Sarah Costain | No Cardstock

Sarah here today with my take on the no cardstock challenge.

I love creating mixed media backgrounds so for this challenge I added clear gesso to a seascape patterned paper.  I could then build up layers of paints stamping and pastes on top.

To help my photo stand out from the busy background I used layers of textured material and distressed patterned paper behind it.

I added my title to the side of my photo to draw the eye across the page.

Lots of seashells and nautical elements added to the theme in the photo.

Some splashes of bronze and white ink over the layout tied it all in together.

You can check out the process in more detail over on the UK Scrap Addicts YouTube Channel

Thanks for joining me today :)

A Winter's Day | Lou Thompson | Grab 5

For this month's challenge I just had to go wintery and use the Prima Santa Baby collection I love.

I started by splattering some oxide inks on some Bazzill marshmallow heavy cardstock in colours that coordinated with the Prima range.

I started by layering some of the papers around my photo and added foam dots for dimension.

I then added glitter stickers and washi, foam stickers and ephemera from Santa Baby, some American Crafts dot stickers and Kaisercraft die cuts.

I really love this layout its super pretty and perfect for winter.

Here are some close ups. Hope you like it.

Say Cheese | Lou Thompson | Small Photos

Something I have been wanting to try more of is using multiple photos on a layout. This month's theme to use small photos presented the perfect opportunity.

I used free app 'photogrid' to create some collages of small photos which I then sent to the be printed using the Free Prints app.

I began by adding a piece of Prima's Havana foiled paper to my navy stripe main page. On the diagonal, I added a dotty sticker, blue ribbon and a 3 circle sticker.

I cut up 5 of the small photos I printed of my nephew having fun at the park.

I backed these with some green paper to make them stand out from the background

I added some flowers, stickers, puffy words and hearts and gems.

I then used some foam squares to added the photos to the layout in a diagonal shape.

Hope you liked this layout and give your own layout with small photos a go.

Best Day Ever | Lou Thompson | Paint

Today I have a very colourful layout for you. This month is all about celebrating the use of paint on layouts. With this in mind, I decided to choose a black background and keep the embellishments to a minimum.

I used a Prima Silicone brush to create the painted, textured background.

Paper and brush can be found at:

You can watch the process video here:

Baby Boy Blue | Lou Thompson | One 6x4 photo

Hello scrappers and welcome to my 2nd piece for UKSA. This month's challenge was to make a layout using one 6x4 photo, so style wise, this was very much open to interpretation.

I had this gorgeous blue  and white coloured wooden board page I have been dying to use and remember this cute photo of my nephew I took when he was little. Has has the most amazing blue eyes  and a cute blue fluffy coat on so just goes great with this paper.

I have a few favourite mixed media items currently; Prima Impasto paints and Ranger Oxide inks. I chose a few paints and mixed them with modelling paste. I also took a few oxides in matching colours and used these along with the paste to add stenciling to the background. I am just loving blues and greens at the moment so really love the results.

From there it was fairly easy as I didn't want to loose all this lovely texture so kept it simple. I added die cuts and a journalling card, washi, a wooden circle, a resin flower, some stickers and chipboard alphas, a tassel and a perspex camera and word.

Here are some close ups and please so visit my YouTube channel to see the process. If you enjoy the video, please give me a thumbs up and maybe a comment so I know you like what I am doing :)

Beautiful | Elaine King | One 6 x 4 photo

Good morning all

Thanks for joining me again on my journey showcasing British suppliers in the UK Scrapbooking industry. It gives me so much pleasure to support these small businesses and share my experiences with you all.

For this month's prompt the Creative Team were tasked with creating a layout using just one 6 x 4 photo. As this is something I do regularly I wasn't fazed by this challenge but I wanted to share some techniques with you that may inspire you to get involved too.

To start with I took several pieces of scrap white card stock and cut them into rectangles and layered them on a white background. I adhered them with medium gel and spread texture paste using a pallet knife to create texture. I also used a stencil with the same texture paste to add further interest.

Next I took some Tim Holtz Distress Oxides, (bought from Crafts4Eternity in Weston Super Mare) and added some pink and grey and misted with water to give it a splattered look. Once dried I then took an inch off each edge and layered the white cardstock onto a pink sheet of card (having gutted it first to use later).

I then took some scrap of pink and grey patterned papers an arranged them over the top of the textured rectangles with some die cuts I'd had for a while in my stash that one of my dear friends had cut for me. We got to know each other through the UK Scrappers forum and I am still an active member there. It's a shame more people aren't so if you have a spare few minutes, why not pop over and say hello?

Anyway.. then I used some Prima washi tape, also sourced from Crafts4Eternity from one of their add ons from a monthly page kit, and layered this too.

Finally I added the photograph that I had matted on  the gutted pink card and decorated with flowers from my stash. The little word expressions to the left of the photo are from a sticker sheet from Kaisercraft called P.S. I Love You as is the little heart above the photo too.

I do hope you like the layout and it gives you some ideas how to use some of your scraps and add dimension.

Thanks for stopping by!

St Tropez Summer | Sheena Rowlands | Clustering

Hi there x Sheena here again x
The focus for us this month is to use clustering on our pages.
This was perfect for me as I love using clusters on my pages as I tend to hoard embellishments so need to get them stuck on a page.

St Tropez Summer.

For this page I've actually created a line of clustered embellishments running above & below my photo which also includes my title.

Some of the embellishments are from the same range as the paper, Prima St Tropez but by clustering embellishments in this way also gives you a chance to use up odd bits & pieces, from old & new collections by tucking them in.

Also adding in different textures adds to the overall interest too. Here I've used stickers, wood veneer, chipboard shapes, epoxy shapes, flair...

I hope you get a chance over the summer months to getting some scrapping time for yourself x

Beach Boys | Sheena Rowlands | Large Photo

Hi there Scrap Addicts x

This months theme of large photos had me looking back through my scrapbook albums. I realised over the years I've been scrapping with smaller & smaller photos. So maybe its time to challenge myself to go bigger with my photos.

The photo I've used for this page is an old one which I'd wanted to scrap but never got around to. I printed it A4 size which is as big as I can print at home.

Beach Boys.

I've used the Prima St Tropez range mainly to scrap with as the colours & beachy ephemera fit perfectly with my pic.
I've grouped my embellishments in 2 areas and overlapped the photo but tried to keep the feel that they were the only ones on the beach which was true as it was dry day in March when it was taken.
I added 3 inked wood veneer boys under my title and  then adhered random dew drops to add watery splashes.
Please show us your large photo layouts & share them with us on our Facebook page.
Happy Scrapping.
