Hello everyone,

Today is my turn for the month with my take on Laura's Sketch.

I decided to use my Smash book to document my Recent rip to Wisley Gardens.

I followed the sketch by using the Wisley Gardens leaflets to create the starts around the side of the photos.

I used quite simple tools for this too -

Cutesy Smash Book - bought from Amazon

I layered up the different sized stars cut from the Wisley garden Map, to create a flower style, and then stuck them with a tacky glue which will dry clear.

Sleep Amongst The Stars / Di Willcox / Fussy Cutting

May is fussy cutting month for us in UKSA and I think it's fair to say, we're all trying to think creatively about what we fussy cut! A majority of the time it's the floral or butterfly papers that tend to be cut into as they make great embellishments and compliment photos and papers, so I've gone for something a bit different and chosen stars.

I had a cut file backing sheet from The Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Boys rule collection and cut out the stars, some individually and some linked together, and made a crescent/ moon shape with them. 

Before I stuck them down on my white background I used water based crayons and the packaging technique to add some subtle colour splotches. 

After the photo was matted and stuck in place, I sprinkled and stuck some sequins around the page to add a bit more texture and effect. I did have a bit of an accident with the glue and this can be seen in my process video (here)!

Lastly I used a Thickers letter guide to help shape the title around the 'moon'.

I love how your eyes sparkle | Di Willcox | Sparkle

Good morning Scrap Addicts! Di here today with my first layout as a UKSA creative team member, how exciting!!

'Sparkle' is this month's theme and as it so happens, I had the exact word in a puffy sticker set from the PinkFresh Studio 'Joyful Day' collection. Perfect!

I have lots of photos of my daughter (who's now 24) as a toddler but I struggle to scrap them as they have some distraction in the background that I'm not happy with or the colours/ patterns don't go with the modern papers. After scrolling through Pinterest for ideas I saw a few grid style layouts that use several photos cut down to the main focus point, so I chose a few of Molly, cut them down to 4 x 2 inches and arranged them on the page with papers from the a kit that featured papers from PinkFresh Studio and Pretty Little Studio. I also fussy cut some of the mandala style flowers from one paper and punched some chevrons out of another to create embellishments. 

 After I'd stuck the photos and papers down it seemed a bit flat to me so I doodled lines between to create more of a grid and then I got the 'pop' I wanted to achieve!

I added the title, embellishments and a few sequins (well it is sparkle month!) to finish the layout off.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with for 'Sparkle', I'll be looking out for lots of shiny layouts in the UK Scrap Addicts group on Facebook ;)

Choose to Shine | Punches | Sarah Costain

Sarah here today with my layout using punches.

I don't own all that many punches, but for some reason I have about 6 different sized star punches!! So that was my starting point for my layout.

I applied clear gesso to my page which was a night sky scene from a kit by Thompson's Crafts available here. The gesso helps my page withstand any mixed media I throw at it.

I punched out various sized stars from mirror card and the left over trimmings from my photo. I added these on top of a silver texture paste and spray background.

To frame my photo I matted it on more mirror card and added a glitter embossed frame.
I cut apart words from another paper from the kit to create tiny word stickers and quotes.

Some sweet kawaii stickers, nuvo drops and sequins added more sparkle to my page to finish it off.

Superstar | Elaine King | 6" Paper Pad

Good morning all. 

My turn up on the blog today showing you my way to use up 6" paper pads. These can be very versatile to use for scrapbooking as they are, of course, already perfectly co-ordinated and even have nice little pop out ephemera all ready to use. 

To start with I found a photo I was keen to scrap, (my Mum and I back in March at her birthday celebration.) She was, conveniently, wearing a black sequin top and I too had a jumper with a silver star all in sequins too. How handy was that? 

Anyway, I went through my, not inconsiderable, collection of pads and found this one from Heidi Swapp which had pale blue, black and dotty papers that I knew would work with my photo. I found this pad at TK Maxx when they used to stock a decent range of craft supplies.

I then matted my photo onto some black card that I got from Crafts4Eternity. Michele who runs the group stocks very good card stock that is brilliant for mixed media too. 

Once I had done this I took several sheets of the pad and cut them into 3/4" strips which I then cut further into 2" blocks ready for the herringbone piecing. I then inked all of the edges for definition. This was my practice run

To start I tried all of the pieces on the background card to make sure I had tried all the combinations to form my herringbone pattern. When I was happy I then took to sticking them all down. 

TIP: Use wet glue at this stage as it gives you more 'wriggle room' than DST or tape runners. 

Here it is.. almost straight! lol 

When they were all stuck down and dried I trimmed the overhang off the black card stock from C4E too. I then mounted the photo. 

To finish I added some die cut stars and sequin stars to embellish finishing off with some silver alphas for the title. 

I do hope the team are inspiring you this month to start using up those long hoarded paper pads. I know they are me!

Shoot for the Stars / Jackie Ashton / Choose a Shape

Hi Jackie here, this months challenge is  ‘choose a shape’, my current favourite shape are stars, who doesn’t like a stars or two added to their layouts, I know I do.  

The collection I’ve used for this layouts is Crate Paper - Good Vibes.   I started by die cutting several different sizes of stars, including a few vellum ones, to use a base for my photographs.  

I also added a few open die cut star borders, which I cut in half and added around the page.

For the title I used a prespextive from Bramble Fox which was just perfect for my layout, as well as scattering some prespextive stars and wood veneer stars around the layout.

I added some stamped words and phases to be background paper,  using the stamp set that came with the Crate Paper - Good Vibes collection.

The layout came together really quickly and I love the end result, this is a great way of using up your scraps or 6x6 paper pads that have bold prints, die cutting them you can add to your layout and still get the effect you want.
