My Thor | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Fussy Cutting

I am one of those weirdos that love to fussy cut so when this challenge came round I relished in it..... well at least I thought I was going to.

So I realised that when I fussy cut things, it always seems to be butterflies or flowers. But there are other things that can be fussy cut - just like in my layout.

I used a sheet of labels from the Carousel collection by Maggie Holmes. I also used a patterned paper to fussy cut some of the icons you can see here that says Cotton Candy and Carousel.

I added some foam behind some of the labels to give dimension and then used this as a base to start adding in embellishments.

I used a mixture of stickers and ephemera and chipboard and just continued layering over the labels and although it's busy, I personally love the design concept with how this turned out.

The photo was one that was taken a long time ago and so I didn't have the actual date available so instead I used the year (I believe?!) and added 2003 in Thickers into one of those labels.

To the other spare label I added my title which is "My Thor" as me and hubby are massive Avengers fans.

I also added some torn edges and backed this with some patterned paper to create some further interest on the sides due to working on white cardstock. This really helps to train your eyes inwards to the photo.

Explore | Punches | Amy Kattenbelt

As you might have seen, this month over on UK Scrap Addicts we are using our punches to create our layouts. I don't own many punches, I prefer to use dies as they take up less storage space. However i do own a small selction of punches from when i first started scrapbooking. It was really fun to get them out and use them again. The Martha Stewart butterfly punch used to be one of my go to items and appears on my many of my older layouts.

Punches are great to be used on scraps. I have recently sorted out all my scraps into coloured bags, so i decided to make a rainbow layout.

Do check out my process video over on our YouTube channel to see this page being created.

Thanks for reading, and do pop on over to our Facebook group where you can share all the layouts you create this month using punches.

Beauty | Terri Morris | No Cardstock

Happy New Year from all at UK Scrap Addicts!

I hope you've all had a fantastic festive period and are now settling in to 2019. As we head in to a new year I'm looking back at some of the amazing trips I've had over the last few years and trying to get the memories in to my albums.

This month's theme her at UK Scrap Addicts is to create a layout using NO CARDSTOCK. Now this can be hard in the current trend of white cardstock backgrounds, so go on give it a go.

So I have a confession to make.... This layout has been sat part done on my desk for quite a while. Then the other day it just sprang to life in my mind and it came together super quickly,

I used lots of scraps of patterned paper to create layers behind my photo and across the whole layout. Tucking some pieces of embellishment behind the layers and the large flowers on top with 3D foam.

To create extra texture on the layout I added some hand stitching.

Thanks for joining us here in the New Year. We hope that you'll join us over on the Facebook Group and Instagram to share your creations.

Happy Crafting!

Disney Selfies / Jackie Ashton / Small Photos

Hi scrappers, Jackie here, with my layout for this month theme ‘using small photographs’ - something that I love to do if I have a few of the same theme of photographs.

I decided for this months layout I would used a selection of selfies from my last visit to Disneyland Paris earlier this year.

The collection I used is Echo Park - Wish Upon a Star collection, which is a non-Disney collection  but the colours, phases, ephemera, die cuts, chipboard etc all work well with Disney photographs.

I used a patterned paper as my background and added a strip of patterned paper down the left hand side.  Added a punched border strip, and a ‘star’ border sticker down the opposite side.

I printed off a few selfies photographs, which are approximately 2.75 inch square and then decided which ones to use on my layout.  I ended up with 6 cascading down the page and added some 3D foam to a few of them to given a bit of dimension to the page.

I kept my embellishments simple and using stickers, chipboard, enamel dots from 'Wish Upon a Star' collection and a  few punched Mickey head in black cardstock, and added some  mouse wood veneer which I purchased from Pretty My Page, which are just so cute and perfect for my page.

For my title I used two different set of Thickers from my stash and added some wood veneer chevrons.

This layouts came together quickly and it is a great way to add loads of photographs to one 12x12 page.

Don’t forget to share your layouts over on our Facebook page, we would love to see them.

Till next time ....

Wipeout | Amy Kattenbelt | Small Photos

SO in this month of October, UK Scrap Addicts are working with the theme of 'small photos'. I decided for my layout i would create a grid style sketch to work with. Grid designs are a great way to use several small photos on one layout. I really hope you might give this sketch a go too. Using small photos is great when you are trying to tell a story, or when the photos you really want to document are low quality - in my case as the people were moving they were pretty blurry and couldn't have been printed in  a large size. Be sure to come and join us over on our Facebook page and share all your small photo creations with us!

You can see how the layout was create, in real time, over on our YouTube channel.

Paradise Memories | Kirei Baldwin | Paint

Hi UK Scrap Addicts!

Kirei here with my take on this month's UK Scrap Addicts theme which was to use paint on a layout.

I had these lovely shell cut-files that I wanted to use with the Wild Heart paper collection from Crate Paper so decided to back fill them with paper that was painted in coordinating colours. I used an Inklingz paint from Shimmerz and a couple of the Starlights Metallic Paints from Imagination Crafts. Once they were dry I cut them out and then mixed some of the paint with texture paste which I used through a stencil onto each of the shell backgrounds. The cut files were then raised on foam pads to add dimension.

I layered my photo with some of the 'Wild Heart' papers and some of the cut apart tags.

I added embellishments from the coordinating 'Wild Heart' stickers and ephemera.

Finally finishing off with my title using the chipboard stickers and the lovely glittery Thickers from the range.

So why don't you join in with this month's 'Paint' theme and share your layouts over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook page and join in with the chat.... we love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking, happy scrapping!

I won't give up on us | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Paint

It's nearing the end of Summer here so that means one thing - no more super bright layouts! We head into Autumn colours, photos of Hot Chocolate and crisp Autumn mornings and then onto the Big C!!!

But....For now...I bring you one last hurrah of this summer season and who can resist a rainbow layout (I know I can't!).

So this months theme was paint. I decided to use some acrylic paint markers for this layout and I have teamed this layout up with my Alpha Attack series on Youtube to demonstrate that you can use paint to change the colour of any type of Alpha or Thicker (because we usually have lots of those in our stash right!?).

So my thought was rainbow rain. I know this sounds crazy but here is how the layout came together.

I grabbed a whole load of half used Thicker packs from my stash and started sticking them randomly over the lower 2/3 of my page. (I did Gesso my page first knowing I was going to be applying white paint over the Thickers).

Once these were all stuck down, I then added a layer of Gesso (I actually added 2 layers because I wasn't sure how thick the coverage would be from the paint markers).

Once I had let the Gesso dry, and you can use a heat tool to speed the process up (I certainly did), I then applied 2 layers of white acrylic paint over the whole page.

Next came the hard decision as to where I was going to include my photo. I didn't want to cover too much of the background up so I went with a photo that I could cut down to just the subject image (my husband in this case) and I packed the photo with a small amount of 3 different patterned papers around the edges.

This is where the fun part came in. I used the acrylic paint markers to colour in each alpha using the ROYGBIV colours (apart from I had to substitute Indigo for Pink) and I worked my way across the page with each colour. Next I added some of the paint onto a non stick mat and added a little water and went splatter crazy! I tried to keep the coloured splatters within each of their own colour sections. I then went tone on tone with adding some enamel dots in hearts and star shapes.

I did back my white cardstock onto a piece of rainbow(ish) patterned paper. I had used a sheet of Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock which is primed for Mixed Media but it had buckled a little. So cutting down a 1/2 inch from each the top and bottom, I then mounted this onto the patterned paper to held smooth out the warping.

Next I free hand cut some clouds and used a black paint marker to give these a faux stitched border as these were getting lost on the background. Finally, because clearly there were not enough Alphas already on this layout!, I then added my title into the left cloud. I even popped a sun in to the top right cloud to keep with the theme.

In total I used a massive 97 Alpha Stickers!!! And now I need a lie down. Thanks for visiting our blog today. Be sure to head back for more inspiration throughout the month from the other ladies. Oh and we have a new theme on 1st October!!

Colour Run! | RamblingsofGeo | Paint

Hi Everyone,

I have used water colours for my paint themed layout, it was a technique i learnt at the Amy Tangerine workshop that Birds of a Feather put on last November.

I did the watercolour technique on some water colour paper i had, which i cut down to 12x12 inch. i then cut it smaller to fit inside a full size 12x12 inch paper sheet.  I gutted the middle of the paper so i didn't waste any. (you can see all of this on the process video). I used some reeves watercolors (like the ones kids get at school in the red palette)

Here are some close ups for you of the layout.

I have also done  a corresponding Smash Book layout to go with this page which you can view here on my own youtube channel - Click here - This was to keep all the memorabila together, like my race number, wrist band, leaflets etc.

You Colour My World | ScrappyNerdUK (Claire) | Tic Tac Toe

Hiya friends,

I can't believe we are nearly at the end of August already.....this means its nearly time for a new theme!

We still have a couple more layouts to share with you for this months theme of Tic Tac Toe. And I hope you like bright colourful rainbow layouts?

So I chose to use Circles, Rainbow and Multiple Alphas.

I started with punching different sized circles from blue, red, pink, yellow and blue patterned papers. I used a 3 inch, 2 inch and 1 inch circle and adhered these onto a piece of white cardstock.

I already loved how this layout started out.

Then I set to work on the title and embellishing. I chose to use 3 different alphas and wanted to use all glittered ones but change the font of each word. I love this bright title and different directions the words run make it more interesting too.

The photo, which can be seen just at the bottom of this photo, was layered with co-ordinating patterned papers that match the circles.

Each circle was then drawn around with a 0.8 black fineliner to help make them pop and give them more of a messy look.

I also added in some accent words from Pink Fresh Studio and used the co-ordinating hearts and stars to create a colour on colour embellishing.

It was then all finished off with a couple of tiny word stickers and some splashes of black ink!

Be sure to head on over to Youtube to watch the process video too.
See you next month!!

Hogwarts Bound! | Giselle Homer | Tic Tac Toe

Hi everyone,

It's already August and I'm sure many of you will be on holiday taking lots of photos to scrap in the coming months. This month's theme is Tic Tac Toe, where we chose items in any direction, in a diagonal or straight line from the grid shown below. The choices should include the 'circles' from the centre of the grid. I chose Arrows, Circles and Washi Tape.

I've made an 8.5" x 11" layout this time using Simple Stories 'Say Cheese III' to go with this photo taken at platform 9.3/4! I began by backing the photo with a couple of sheets of patterned paper and a frame. Then I cut out the castle shape from one of the other papers in the set. This showed off my title well, it's a Perspextive from Bramble Fox a UK company that specialises in acrylic words.

Then I cut some footstep shapes using my Silhouette and added them below the secondary title words, which are mini Thickers from American Crafts.

I cut the border strips and added thin yellow Washi Tape to the edges.

Then I cut 2 circles for the journalling and added other embellishments including an acrylic arrow and a metal paper clip above the photo. The layout was finished by adding a variety of stars floating upwards to the top of the layout.

I hope you have fun and get some inspiration from this month's theme and don't forget to share your layouts with all the UK Scrap Addicts on Facebook and Instagram.

Till next month, Happy Scrapping!
