Sunshine and Sparkles | Sarah Kentzer (Guest Designer) | Sparkle

We're really excited to be introducing Guest Designers to the team each month and this month we even have 2 joining us!

First up we have Sarah Kentzer and here at UKScrapAddicts we were excited to see what Sarah would come up with for our monthly theme of Sparkle!

Over to you Sarah.....

I'm a big fan of Crate Paper collections and I treated myself to some of the new Maggie Holmes, Sunny Days collection. It has lots of lovely colours and gold foiled papers. When I heard the theme I would be working with was Sparkle, I had in mind the perfect photo to scrapbook.

I created this layout about my daughter whilst she was wearing her sparkly sunglasses and sequinned top which she loved. From the Sunny Days collection, I used the stickers and some die cuts from the ephemera pack. I also did some fussy cutting which always stretches any collection.

I even managed to add the world "Sparkle" into my title! This layout was all finished off with some splatters of gold paint and a scattering of sequins.

Here at UKScrapAddicts we want to thank Sarah for being a Guest Designer for us this month and we love the layout she has created. Thanks for joining us Sarah - it's been our pleasure!

White Night | Kirei Baldwin | Using Punches

Hi UK Scrap Addicts!

Kirei here again sharing a layout focused on this month's theme which was to use punches on a layout... and like quite a few of the Creative Team I also have plenty of punches to use!

I decided on creating some layered shapes so pulled out three sizes of square punches - 2", 1 3/4" and 1 1/2".

Then I pulled out a mix all my Crate Paper Maggie Holmes stash and looked for patterned papers that went together. From these I punched out squares to layer up across the page.

I mounted my photo with a few layers as well and tucked a few of the layered squares under each edge. Along the edge of each layered square I added some cross stitches in a matching colour.

To finish off I added a title and some journaling.

There is always lots of fab inspiration for the monthly theme from the rest of the Creative Team on the blog! So why don't you pull out those punches and join in with this month's 'Use punches' theme.... don't forget to share your layouts over on the UK Scrap Addicts Facebook page as we love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking, happy scrapping!

A sunny day in June | Punches | RamblingsofGeo

Hello every one,

Welcome to february 11th! - how are we in february already?!

I'm using a photo from June last year when i attended a GoGo Getaway Retreat, and happened to have a mini UK Scrap Addict photo session it a couple of the other girls who were also attending.

For this layout i used the new Mindthescrap February Kit which is very, very pretty.

I used the 12x12 paper by Maggie Holmes called Parasol from the Sunny Days collection.

I took a 2 inch punch to the parasols and punched them out to make a bright summer background to my photo. I used my Travellers notebook which is to document the summer of 2018.

I have also used the Amy Tangerine sticker book from her Sweet Life collection to do my title, and the little heart.

Summer Escape | Terri Morris | Punches

Hello there UK Scrap Addicts, I'm here to introduce this month's new theme which is 'punches'. I'm sure if you are like me then you have an abundance of neglected punches in a box or drawer in your home. I loved my punches but they have been gathering dust in my craft room for a while now.

I pulled out 3 different punches determined to use them on my layout this month. I have used the Martha Stewart 'butterfly', Stampin' Up tag and bow builder punches. These are some of my favourites and very much all rounders.

I punched numerous butterflies from patterned paper to use as embellishments.

Nuvo drops in a scattered diagonal pattern across the page add subtle colour to the white cardstock background.

A line of different sized tags made from patterned paper that co-ordinate with the butterflies add colourful detail to the bottom of the layout and provide an area to place the Bramble Fox perspextive title.

We love to see your layouts using this month's theme so don't forget to tag us on Instagram and put them on our Facebook group.

Happy Scrapping!

Beauty | Terri Morris | No Cardstock

Happy New Year from all at UK Scrap Addicts!

I hope you've all had a fantastic festive period and are now settling in to 2019. As we head in to a new year I'm looking back at some of the amazing trips I've had over the last few years and trying to get the memories in to my albums.

This month's theme her at UK Scrap Addicts is to create a layout using NO CARDSTOCK. Now this can be hard in the current trend of white cardstock backgrounds, so go on give it a go.

So I have a confession to make.... This layout has been sat part done on my desk for quite a while. Then the other day it just sprang to life in my mind and it came together super quickly,

I used lots of scraps of patterned paper to create layers behind my photo and across the whole layout. Tucking some pieces of embellishment behind the layers and the large flowers on top with 3D foam.

To create extra texture on the layout I added some hand stitching.

Thanks for joining us here in the New Year. We hope that you'll join us over on the Facebook Group and Instagram to share your creations.

Happy Crafting!

Delightful Day | Terri Morris | One 6x4 Photo

Well here we are in the 6th month of the year, seems like only yesterday we were celebrating new year. I'm desperately trying to use up some of my older stash (so I have an excuse to buy more!). This month we are focusing on using a 6x4 photo on our layout. The current trend seems to be very much in favour of using smaller photos (3x4 or 4x4) so it was a nice change to be challenged to use this size.

I added some gesso to the wordy patterned paper and added water colour and mists to the background using the packaging technique although much of it is actually covered by the photo and ephemera.

I've never quite known what to do with the pompoms from the Maggie Holmes 'Carousel' collection but grouping three together in a few areas on this layout gave it some much needed texture.

I added lots of layers of paper, chipboard, puffy stickers and stamping to create groupings of embellishment around the main photo. I've used a few random pieces like the big wheel but as it was a Museum of Illusion I thought it fitted in quite nicely with the story I was telling.

Thanks for visiting the blog today and don't forge to show us your layouts on our Scrap Addicts Facebook Group or by tagging us on Instagram.

XOXO | Kirei Baldwin | Monochrome

Hi Scrap Addicts!

It's Kirei here with my first layout for UKSA, I am really thrilled to be here and look forward to sharing my projects with you each month!

For this month's monochrome theme I decided to go for black and white with gold accents. We had the option of just using shades of the same colour OR black/white and one other so that was my option.

I dug into my Crate Paper Maggie Holmes stash and pulled out all of the black and white papers from the various ranges but ended up just using two! A spotty one as a frame for my layout and the other I fussy cut flowers from it. Without realising it I had used similar papers to Amy who shared her fab layout earlier this month!

I went for a diagonal effect, with my photo as the central point. I layered up the photo with a chipboard frame, a glittered frame and some chipboard stickers and stickers. Then I stuck down the fussy cut flowers and curled the edges to add dimension.

Next I went through all of the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes ephemera and stickers and pulled out anything that was black & white or gold and added those in amongst the flowers.

To finish off I added a simple gold sticker title, journaling and a few precious splatters of gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine.... I can't believe it has been discontinued!

Why don't you give monochrome a go and share your scrappy creations over on our UK Scrap Addicts Facebook page. Don't forget to tag us on Facebook or Instagram!

Happy scrapping!

Panda Shop | Amy Kattenbelt | Monochrome

Hi, I'm so excited to be bringing you my very first project for UK Scrap Addicts.

This months theme is Monochrome and after much deliberation about what colour i would like to pick i settled on creating a layout that was purely black, whites and greys. I thought this would match the photo of my eldest son with lots of panda cuddly toys that was taken on our holiday last year.

To make up for the lack of colour i knew i wanted to add plenty of layers and texture, in the hope it would create a lot of interest for the eye. Once i had printed my photo in black and white, i trimmed it to keep a white border and then added a narrow black border to make sure the photo would stand out.

I went through some of my stash and selected some black and white patterned paper. I used a striped paper from the Maggie Holmes Carousel collection as a border piece, and paper from Maggie Holmes Flourish collection with a beautiful leave design on as the background for my layout.

Because these papers were so busy, in order to make my title stand out i decided to use a layer of white cardstock on the left hand side. I added some grey watercolour paint and black ink splashes to create interest.

I then added lots of layers behind the photo, including using some patterned vellum and a doily and tag. I created a crepe paper ruffle to put under the photo too. I then added some black and white flowers which i had previously cut out from a patterned paper. I used Amy Tangerine thickers to create the title, i adore these as i think they add such a dramatic impact to the layout. I used Tim Holtz tiny alpha stickers to create a sub title as well as stamping the date the photo was taken onto a label.

I also used some acrylic paint to paint an 'awesome' wood veneer word grey, and added that above my photo.

I then added even more texture to my layout by adding some twine, fibres and ribbon, using my tiny attacher to staple them to the page. I added three small panda puffy stickers to form a triangle around the photo. Lastly i added some grey studio calico sequins in several clusters to complete the layout.

I will leave you with a link to the YouTube process video so you can see exactly how i create this page (i apologise for the bouncy camera work, i promise it improves vastly after the first minute or so of the video)

So Sweet | Terri Morris | Monochrome

Terri here to showcase my version of a monochromatic page. This is one of my favourite layouts of all time. I never really use yellow as a focal point in my scrapbooking so I was really surprised at how much I love this page. Just shows it pays to try something out of your comfort zone.

I used a mix of Crate Paper Maggie Holmes collections and although I'm always surprised at how similar the collections are I do love that the colour palates co-ordinate so well together.

I added some yellow ink to the background using the packaging technique to add more yellow tones as I was limited to a few small embellishments. The page has a mix of cardstock stickers, enamel stickers and puffy stickers.

My little cute pussycat loves to lay outside my craft room and this was just the sweetest picture of him.

Thanks for reading today, don't forget to show us your creations by tagging us on Instagram or Facebook. Have you seen that we now have our own Facebook group to share our passion for scrapbooking.
